Seriously people, this is what rebuilding is supposed to look like. You leave Rivers and Roberts in when you should put your starters back in to stop the bleeding. You ration your rookie stud's minutes to keep him from hitting the wall. It's not Monty's fault, it's not the players fault, it's your fault for thinking this season is something other than developmental in nature.

In the last year of the CP3 era the top 3 minutes players were:

CP3 36 mpg
DWest 35 mpg
Ariza 34.7 mpg

Top 3 minutes players for this team:

Vasquez 34.3 mpg
Anderson 31.6 mpg
Gordon 29.6 mpg
Davis 28.7 mpg
Rivers 23.8 mpg

So your top minutes guy isn't even one of your best 3 players, your best 3 players are barely getting starters minutes, and one of your worst players is getting 6th man minutes.

Adjust your expectations and quit your belly aching.

I have to agree. I think Monty is well aware this is not the year to make noise, and is really working on developing some if the guys that really need it. I don't like the term tanking because I don't think any professional team would play to lose, but I think he knows that this is going to yield better results long term. Gordon needs to rest as much as possible, while still getting back into game shape to avoid another setback. Davis is still learning but obviously has all the tools, and just really needs a full offseason of strength work. The really inexperienced guys will only play better next year as a result of this. I really cannot bring myself to think Monty doesn't know what he is doing. Just reassuring myself that its part of the process

I agree with almost everything you said

my frustration is Davis not getting 4th quarter minutes more than anything else. it made no sense last night. if its a minutes thing, then adjust his minutes in quarters 1-3.

Davis and Lopez had about the same shot of stopping howard, why not challenge your franchise player against one of the best and see how he does? at least let him compete

Thank you.

That stint where we won 7 straight or whatever when Gordon came back was one of the best things to happen to the team, but the worst thing for the fan base.

This team was never making the playoffs, yet there was a point last week where 50% of this board had threads talking about playoff probabilities and such.

This year is all about figuring out what we have and getting the rookies, mainly Davis, their NBA legs. Next year is when we should really be competing for a 6-8 seed.

hyperbole much? they're good, they're just not great. the bench was 11-38 shooting last night...smith was an awful 1 of 6. roberts was 0 of 6. the bench just had a bad night...it happens, and it was contagious. people are overreacting far too much about that loss last night.

in no way am i saying that the bench is an NBA caliber bench...but they've held their own at times. last night just wasn't one of them.

Stats be damned man, i dont see how the balloon bust so quick. They beat a good team in Memphis and then lose to 3 maybe 4 future hall of famers on the road, now they arent competing, they are practicing. Dont buy it.

I agree, we have a long way to go. I think this team has all of the markings of a team that CAN be good. A 19 year old future superstar that is developing, a player coming back from injury that has the tools to be elite, a stretch 4 that is an elite 3 point shooter, and a PG that is continuing to get better.

The depth of this roster is a major problem right now. It is truly abysmal, but Rome wasn't built in a day. Rosters take years to develop depth, and right now we are letting young guys get minutes. The Guard depth is just...ug.

Speaking of that, the lack of minutes in the 4th for AD is just bizarre.

This is the new tank vs. anti tank debate

That being said, I agree with your main point, but in some games, like last night, I think that Monty can afford to be a little less conservative

Whenever Monty said MIDSEASON that I want to find a rotation that will help us win, I immediately was thinking to myself that he had to have been joking, you should have a decent feel as to who should be out there just based on preseason and what you have seen in practice and then twike it as the season goes on by one player or so. I have seen 3 or 4 different rotations/ placing players out of position(davis or vasquez at 3, Really?!). If this is my team, Anderson, Gordon and Davis each get at least 32 mpg, aminu and vasquez gets about 28 mpg, lopez gets about 20, smith gets about 15, rivers and mason get about 13 at pg(he looks more comfortable there from what i have seen). Your closing lineup, which needs to be in at about 6 minutes to go in the game, is and always is:
Vasquez
Gordon
Aminu
Anderson
Davis
Not that hard Monty, please get with the program, just because you lost like hell last year does not mean that doing that this year is ok.

Vasquez is the only PG on the team who deserves to play more than 20 min. Davis and Anderson play the same position so 29-31 min each is pretty good. Gordon is coming back from a serious injury so why would you rush him back to play 35 min or more per game when he is a franchise player?

Since Jan. 1st (When Gordon came back) Rivers is only averaging about 15 min per game. He had to play those extra mins bc there was no one else.
