The administration's plan on Red Snapper

Guys: Please take the time to watch this crap spewed forth by some hippie biologist hired by your president. The Obama administration wants to decrease recreational quotas for red snapper. It appears that the recreational fisherman's demise is the only solution they can muster to the obvious endangerment of the Red Snapper. Commercial quota reduction is not even an option.

At what point in history did snapper get lumped in with assault weapons?
This is sad for all those boat owners out there.

If they would just ban high capacity reels...

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Gulf Council) consists of 17 voting members: the Southeast Regional Administrator of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), the directors of the five Gulf state marine resource management agencies (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida), and 11 members who are nominated by the state governors, and appointed by the United States Secretary of Commerce.
I dont see how our President really has any impact here but would point out that the original red snapper restrictions went into place in 2008 under a guy named GW Bush.

what if none of us offshore fishermen followed the regs? ie, civil disobedience?

I don't plan to follow federal regs as long as state waters are different. What's the chances of getting checked before you get back in state waters anyway?

Sure sounds like this is the case and that the commercial fisheries have a more powerful lobbying force than the recreational fisherman.

Yes, but the NMFS refuses to sector the gulf.
Its all treated as one area.
Florida sucks donkey arse so we have to suffer
