The same as most HCs. Saban type coaches, who can coach one side as well as be a HC, exist but are not a requirement.

Unknownknight, you don't understand how an executive works. There's no shame in that, but you clearly don't understand the role of a head coach. It does not include calling plays. Many head coaches do that because they have a passion for it, but when they are doing that, they are performing the tasks of an assistant coach in addition to their head coaching duties.

The game day role of the head coach is to make major adjustments in strategy, keep his team focused, and rally their spirits or bring them back down to earth depending on what's required. He probably monitors the discussions and calls of each units coaches and occasionally makes a call that he feels strongly about.

He can be the next Adam Sandler. Instead of H2O, it can be grass!

Miles is Robert E. Lee.

He already has a Stonewall Jackson.

He needs a JEB Stuart.

But what he has on offense is a Longstreet or Ewell.

If he could be as effective as Bobby Bowden was in the glory days of FSU, that would be great. He had the Seminoles in contention for many years.

But when will it be determined if there will be a new offensive coordinator? I would gladly welcome that change--the play-callling could not be worse than it was in the 2012 season.

Recruiting, firing up the crowd, press conferences, fundraising at the TAF. Plenty to do.

You let me down a little bit with this post....as most of your previous posts show a little more football acumen.

Miles DOES NOT CALL THE PLAYS during the game. How do we know this? He DOES NOT carry a playsheet on the sidelines. Name me ONE...just ONE HC that calls all the offensive or defensive plays and does it without carrying a play sheet.

There are several HC's in the SEC who DO call the plays for there teams...Spurrier, Mullen, Malzan will, Petrino did...there are others I'm sure but those are just off top of my head....and they ALL carry sheets!

Does Miles set the offensive philosphy of the team? Without a doubt. Does he participate heavily in gameplanning? Surely. Does he monitor the calls during the game and make recommendations? Yes. Is this something a HC should do? I sure would if it was my team. Is the type of offense that CLM chooses to run a winning formula? Nick Saban and Will Muschamp, and Mark Richt and every pro team on the planet sure think so. But what the frick do I know?

Krag stands beside him with a play sheet. Basically all I've seen him do is watch the big screen occasionally, talk to the line judge occasionally, squat and eat grass, and clap his hands like a seal, and have the look of total confusion. Just keep doing that and get a real offensive staff and just keep doing it.

What did Miles do when he first got here? Did he override Jimbo during the Jamarcus years?
