Not in terms of points but I guess that doesn't matter.

its just how they rank defenses brah... I think everyone would agree they'd rather be the worst in YPG than PPG however

It should matter.

High power offenses typically give up a ton of yards.

too bad when they speak of "best defense" and "best offense" they are 99.9% of the time talking about yards. Simmer down guy. It'll be ok.

It's just silly.

We're not even bottom 4 in terms of points allowed THIS SEASON.
But somehow, we're the worst OF ALL TIME?

While I don't think there is any way Spags gets the axe, it wouldn't surprise me if he does.

this was all tongue in cheek. Just having some fun with how awful they've been. Some people are getting pretty mad though. FWIW, we're 110 points behind the leader for most points allowed all time at the moment.

I never really understood why they rank offenses and defenses primarily by yards instead of points either.

The yards vs points arguments would be way more legit if we weren't actually giving up way too many points, as well.

Because it's points allowed would be too logical for the retards.

This defense has improved. No one who has watched objectively can deny that point. Spags will be back, and this defense will be very decent next year, imo. Equivalent to Williams' defense of the SB year. Yes, I said it.

points allowed gets skewed too easily by pick 6's and special teams?

Yep.
PPG penalizes the defense for Brees' pick sixes and the awful Giants ST game

guarantee the % move because of special teams td's and pick 6's wouldn't even begin to hint at an approach to the skew from yards that lead to nothing, or a 99 yd drive ending in fg, or just about anything bc yards doesn't represent anything tangible in the score.

ETA: we are pretty bad on D, but I'm not sure about worst of all time. That's a pretty big absolution to be based on such an ignorant stat ranking.

You would think there would be a measure that would combine the metrics to come up with a combined score that would be more meaningful. Let's google, shall we?

How is most yards > most points?

yards indicate the offense's ability to move the ball, which is the point of a defense

if an offense can't move the ball, they can't score

scoring can be accomplished due to factors outside of the defense, such as field position and fluke plays
