What are your top 5 Trappist beers that are available here?

There are eight Trappist brewers. Granted, each makes more than one brew, but you're asking an astoundingly specific question. I'd be somewhat shocked if there are more than 8-10 to be had in Baton Rouge, and that's counting all three Chimays

I think there was just a new trappist added to the fraternity......but I can't member the name. My favs are Orval and Westmalle. Then Rochefort and Chimay.

Westvleteren / Vleteren (West, near the sea and Bruges)
Westmalle / Malle (North, near Antwerp / Zoersel)
Achel / Hamont-Achel (North-East, close to the Dutch border in the province of Limburg) – you can overstay in the abbey too
Rochefort (South, below Durbuy)
Chimay (South, close to France, 100km below Charleroi and Mons)
Orval / Florenville (South, below Neufchateau)
LaTrappe (The Netherlands)

That was Engelszell, the eighth.

Old list. The Wiki I previously linked has been updated to reflect the aforementioned addition.
ETA: Anyway, the reality is that the only ones you'll find here, the recent sale of Westvleteren excepted, are as follows:
Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, and La Trappe.

I love beer.
Never heard of Trappist beer.
Anyone care to explain?

Of the ones I've tried I'd go...
1. Trappiste Rochefort 10
2. Trappiste Rochefort 8
3. Chimay Blue
4. Westmalle
5. Orval
I've not had Westvleteren 12... If you consider the non-Trappist Belgian Abbey Ales I'd put St. Bernardus Abt 12 at number 2...

You'll most likely never purchase Bud Lite again.

And with good reason, the Trappist beers are so much better...

You guys are forgetting the best one. St. Bernadus Abt 12 is fermented by God hisself.

It's great beer, but technically not "Trappist" is it not? As I understand it they have no monastic influence...

I guess technically, you're right. They brewed under license of a monastery from 1962 to 1992 after which the collective Trappists decided they no longer wanted a relationship outside the walls of a monastery. Aside from the religious aspects of it, the recipe is as authentic as it gets.
