Kobe was fearless as a rookie. All that swagger Austin had as soon as he stepped on the floor at Duke is long gone. It looks like he has zero confidence in his abilities. He needed more Coach K.

Kobe started 1 game his rookie year and played 15mpg. He shot 6 times a game.

I bet Kobe was able to dribble with his left hand his rookie year

Ok statman, let me rephrase. Kobe never looked intimidated on the court. Ever. And he never played a second of college basketball.
I'm all for Austin as a Hornet but he is a long way from contributing.

Well he's also one of the best player this world has ever seen. He even didnt start until his 3rd year.

If Austin Rivers develops into a serviceable backup combo guard, I think we should be ecstatic.
It's not like late-lottery picks pan out all the time.

I think he will turn out to be that....by his next contract. You have to think he has a good work ethic being son of the Doc.

Trust me I'm one his hardest critics on this board, and while he's still not particularly good, he's better than he was a month ago.
At least he's making some progress, and not regressing like Aminu.
Still don't see him ever being much more than a decent role player off the bench though.

It's not even halfway through the season and Anthony davis is a baller night in night out. Nfl yeah you need time to develop in the nba you either have it or you don't
So he sucks because he is not as good as the guy who was taken 9 spots ahead of him and is considered a once in a decade prospect? You're an idiot.

His "trade value" is probably as low as it will ever be right now.
He should have played another year in college but he didn't. He wasn't ready, imo. BUT, the guy has a motor, has talent, he's smart and he knows (and will learn) the game. Were there better draft choices out there for this season? Probably. But the kid has potential and needs time to develop (it doesn't matter if some other guys who come out as freshmen play well their first NBA season . . . that doesn't say what kind of player Rivers will be in two years).
