In what way did you think it was polarizing? I hadn't heard any of this "polarizing" talk. I thought it was a very good movie, but not quite great. I enjoyed it and watched it a couple of times.
Well it was "polarizing" because, at least to the people I talked to about it, thought it was either a stupid movie and couldn't get over the whole growing in reverse/length of movie, or there were others who loved it and thought it was a good movie and appreciated the story despite the length and illogical aspects of the movie. I think that could qualify it as "polarizing" to me at least.

Okay, I get your meaning. That's probably true, but most people I know really liked it. Being a film with such big stars and being shot in post-Katrina New Orleans, it probably got too much hype, which left some folks disappointed. It got some early Oscar mentions but faded in the stretch, as I recall. I still liked it a lot.

Pirates of the Caribbean. I thought basing a movie on a Disney ride was the dumbest idea of all time. Even though friends with good taste told me it was great and Johnny Depp was terrific, I didn't see it until it came out on DVD.
Of course, I also thought Austin Powers was a dopey idea and I didn't see that until it came out on video.

It had just started one day so I recorded it on my dvr....really like it. Maybe b/c I'm a tennis fan but much better than expected

You know, I agree with that. I had no expectations going into the movie, but I really liked it. Watched it a couple of additional times after I initially watched it.
