Davis is not a Center.. yet

I know it's still way early in the season, but I have to admit that I was wrong.. A. Davis is not a Center. He is just too small (weight wise) to hold the pivot and establish position. It might come in a few years, but he is very thinly built and it doesn't look like he can hold a lot of bulk. When he went up against Duncan, you can see how much wider and bulkier Duncan was especially in the lower body. Davis is just built like a tall guard. Of course, he can get much stronger and add lots of muscle, but will too much take away his speed and agility (which makes him a potential elite player)? This isn't a criticism at all. I think the guy is an awesome player. He is a just a unique guy. But he is way better off as a PF.

We should start Eric Gordon, Ryan Andersen, Anthony Davis, Jason Smith, Robin Lopez.

Have they really tried Anderson at SF?

He's already gotten bulkier than he was when he arrived. And remember that he's still growing....vertically. So once he stops that foolishness then he can expand horizontally a bit.

His bulk is the main reason they can't get it to him in the post and he's settling for 15 footers. But he's 15 games into a very promising career. He will be get there sooner than later

He won't ever be a dominanat big man in this league. If we are lucky he will end up as good as Chris Bosh.

I wouldn't mind him being like Chris Bosh. Especially if Gordon can stay healthy, and Ryno plays like he's been playing that can be a very promising future

his floor is Marcus Camby, not Bosh.

He's a rookie that is still growing and he already averages more rebounds and blocks per game than Bosh in 2 fewer minutes per game. Bosh has a great, diverse offensive game, but Davis has the makings of a nice jump shot (84% FT shooter) and with some experience will start getting those jumpshots to drop. "Lucky" to be as good as Bosh is absurd because Bosh has played 650 more games than Davis and there's not a huge difference between them right now. Bosh is 18th in PER and Davis is 22nd right now.

quote:Offensively, Bosh was the player I compared him to, pre draft. So that would be fine. He was on his way to being a 25 ppg type of player before going to Miami. The combo of a decent midrange jumper and the ability to pump fake the jumpshot and take bigs to the rim off the dribble is basically Bosh's game right now. I think Davis will get there, at the very least.

He already finishes above the rim better than Bosh ever has and he'll definitely be better than Bosh defensively.

Maturity will add some weight as will diet and weight training. Might actually be a better power forward assuming he can add good weight.

That is why I am so confused at everyone saying we need a 3. Anderson should play the 3 while Davis plays the 4 and if Gordon comes back he plays the 2. Leaving us with getting a real point guard and depth in the offseason and doing whatever we can for a Center since Lopez doesnt seem to cut it.

Anderson is not a 3, imo...better off with Davis at C than Anderson at SF.

Only works if the opposing team has SFs that can't score/are unathletic. Like, say, if he were playing the Hornets.

Da frick? Bosh was a dominate big man his years in Toronto. 20/10 along with a block a d a few assists per game, not to mention excellent percentages.
Bosh has taken a back seat in MIA, but he is an excellent player. We'd be lucky is AD is Bosh.
