So Pruitt left, and now Burton Burns is getting wooed by Jimbo?

Interesting shuffle on both sides of the ball for the Tide if all the rumors are true.

IMO most of the Burton rumors don't have legs.

What's the consensus on Burns and Pruitt coaching wise? I know they are top shelf recruiters. FSU is already recruiting gang busters but they need some solid position coaching to round them out.

Well Pruitt was at Hoover High School six years ago and came to Alabama five years ago as an off-field assistant. He's been coaching DBs (Saban's specialty) the past few seasons. Not much of a book on him position coaching-wise, seemed like a rather risky hire for Jimbo to make him the DC.

Jimbo has put together a phenomenal staff when he first took over. Most FSU fans will give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm excited for Pruitt and I'm confident Saban wouldn't have given the thumbs up if he wasn't ready to be a DC.
Plus, he's coming into a team with a ton of talent, experienced assistant coaches, and we're in the ACC. He has some margin for error and learning.

I'm sure he did, but what's your point? Tennessee's situation was a lot different.

do you really not get his point?

Reading comprehension, my friend. Use it.
I understand his point. But, I don't think it's valid given the different teams and situations.

Pruitt got a promotion. Burns is probably way under paid.

^ This. Not sure why Burton would want to jump ship and take a lateral (at best) job. FSU certainly doesn't have the money to outbid Bama.

Burns was brought in from Clemson and hadn't ever really recruited first-line La. guys. He's done well the past few seasons cherry-picking some.
Folks wanna say its the brand and not the REC, but I'm pretty sure it was a little bit of both.
My theory is that he's not really in as tightly as he'd like to be on the '14 and '15 guys and he might realize that. They've tried their damndest hiring Bradley Sylve's "stepfather" and Denzell Devall's DC at St. Augustine to help woo Fournette. But most realize now that it seems like LSU's going to reel him in.
Beyond that, he's not really "in" on the others like Willis, Noil, Quinn etc in state, and you know Little Nicky wants results or wants you gone.
I think there's also a burnout factor as well. You can only work for Nick for so long. The only guys who can stick around are the ones who couldn't get a job and hold it anywhere else. The Sunseri's & Booby Williamses of the world.

Devall isn't from St. Aug. He is from Bastrop High in north LA.

So much fail with this post.
Burns is the best RB coach in the country right now, and I'm pretty sure he's only asked to do a small amount of recruiting. He really only focuses on LA and has great results. LA recruiting, being associate head coach, and producing 1,000 yard 1st round picks at RB...that's all he's asked to do and does it quite well. He'll be getting a nice raise at the end of the year. Saban values him greatly, and the players love him. Your theory is ignorant, sorry brah.

You are officially an idiot. Do you honestly think that Burton Burns made Richardson and Ingram first rounders? RB is the easiest position to Coach at the College level, that's why so many HS Coaches get their first job at the College level coaching this position.
If you have talented RB's, they shine no matter what. Blocking and blitz pick ups are want to's not coaching.

You have proven unworthy to take part in this discussion.
If you can't figure it out, try again.
