Question for you AR experts. I have an odin works barrel on my AR. Wondering how hot you can run it. Shot 250 rounds at the range and noticed it had gotten pretty hot. It was still shooting a little under a MOA at 100 yards. Just curious as to how hot is too hot? It was hot enough that I didn't want to put it back in the case. Odin Barrel

If your groups are still holding sub MOA then I wouldn't even consider the barrel to be "warm" on the scale of "how hot can this steel get before failing."

You don't need to spend that much for a decent AR these days.

Look at Palmetto State Armory, and use the change for ammo and optics:

PSA M-Lok Upper $329.99

PSA Magpul CTR Blem Lower $149.99

And a lot of other people will have a lot of other opinions on here, I promise

that will do just fine. all ARs from $500-$1100 are pretty much the same. dont pay extra for Colt's name. you'd pay 400 more for a different roll mark, a shittier stock, shitty 2pc plastic handguard, and a PITA fixed FSB.

StraightCashHomey21: Buy the Colt & get one very similar to what you are issued by the Air Force.

You probably won't notice a drop in accuracy but as the barrel heats up the propellant gasses have an easier time eroding the bore forward of the throat and the vicinity of the gas port.

Eveytime I look at the PSA website it takes every fiber of my being not to buy another AR.

Still looking for the BLEM on my Palmetto State Armory Lower.

This upper is very tempting:

Right... Don't buy a battle proven rifle from a company that the US military has trusted to make all of their m16 and m4 service rifles for over 50 years.

Go online and "build your own" ar15 by piecing together cheap parts from discount online gun sellers. Then tell everyone it's the same if not better than what the US military uses

Has anyone said anything about going into battle?? Thats what plagues this indusrty so much. So many people think they need the most tactical thing or i bought this because the Army uses it. Does it even occur to you that 99% of people buying an AR dont need it with them in battle? They use it to have fun at the range or show off to budies every now and then or the ocasional hunt. In that role an $1100 dollar colt serves them far worse than a $500 Setup with more ergonomic controls and free float rails. And that $500 gun works pretty damn well.

Simmer down your hardon is showing for colt.

FN says hello. Colt is not an exclusive supplier

Cheap parts I spent $8K on 2 guns last month. You military guys need to realize that, shocker, there is other shite out there besides what you were issued. Colt is a struggling company that is kept afloat by military contracts, which are more about kickbacks than anything. Trust me, they don't get chosen based on quality

You really think a 6920 is a better gun than a Daniel Defense V7? Or a BCM? Or a Noveske? Larue? You're like that guy from a few months back that thinks that KAC still makes the best AR10 Sulzer makes several models that I'd take over a Colt

Try shooting other things that aren't what the Marines gave you

And... it's gone.

I have two 16" AR's, but my next one will be a 14.7" model or a M-16A2 clone from PSA.
