Do they do that? With it being so warm lately, can they be active again, or would they still be too sluggish to do anything.

Saw and hit plenty of them with the boat over Thanksgiving.

Lost 3 ducks so far to gators. Last year, saw 2 gators swimming on January 28, last weekend of duck season. Crazy

We watched an 11'er eat a 3'er in our boat shed the other day. Plenty of active gators in the marsh right now, water is in the upper 60s.

Does this scare any of y'all that bring a dog? I may just be paranoid, but it scares the shite out of me.

He's usually pretty ecstatic about going after the ducks. But then again I guess he doesn't get on the OB so he wouldn't know the gators are active again.

Wife and kids watched ours get eaten right off the dock a few years ago. Thankfully BP spill thinned them out right after that.

I just can't imagine one of them frickers getting my dog. I've hunted some places full of them & have been lucky i guess. I'll still take him hunting on warm days but he stays on a leach

I been around this.. since 1978... often hunting 80% of the days in a season.. I am only aware of two dogs being attacked by gators... one in TX and one in kramer...
my dog.. once wouldn't get in the water..... she just barked at us... we soon saw why....
both of the dogs I am aware of that got attacked were "bank running" when they got attacked..

Ive walked up on two wading in chest deep water while duck hunting. The first one eased under water right away and it was pretty scary since I couldnt move very fast. The other just stayed there. It was between me and the bank, so I took the long way around Wouldnt they be sluggish even if they were out? That why I figured neither messed with me.

I'm doing my best to decrease the alligator population in central LA

A 6 footer was witnessed trying to take a dog off the dock in my neighborhood on the Diversion. It was disposed of shortly after by a trapper. The person that saw the gator said it came a couple of feet out the water, bit there was an unsubstantiated rumor that other neighbors were feeding the gator.

saw a bunch last weekend moving around. saw one from a distance that looked to be at least 8 feet long. My FIL said that he saw was that was 10-11 feet long in a bayou near where he deer hunts.

Every time I see this picture I automatically trade the trout out for a gator and imagine a dog instead of a bait. I would never bring my pup to the marsh, although I only hunt marsh once a year.
