There's too much low hanging fruit in CFB for Gruden to turn down the Vols

Let's be honest. Gruden knows that he could step in and out recruit and out scheme any coach in the SEC or CFB for that matter.
Being in both the pro and college hall of fame is an enticing proposition, and he knows he's capable of achieving that at TN.

Too bad Gruden wouldn't know how to develop talent or a QB if he were able to recruit them to campus.

Something is not right here. I see a thread, started by Tennessee Jed - But I don't see where he flamed Arkansas.

Solid grind, 0/10, etc. etc.

I don't think Gruden's ego would allow him to work the recruiting trail like the big time coached do.

Didn't Gruden win a Super Bowl with a shitty offense (24th in yards) and a great defense? What a great schemer he is. The MVC of that Tampa team was Monte Kiffin. Look how awesome that USC defense is doing. Tennessee fans and Gruden lovers (if we are drawing a venn diagram the overlap between those sets would be very high) are so dumb sometimes.

Let's be honest. Gruden knows that he could stay as a broadcaster the rest of his life, and a ton of people would always think that he could step in and out recruit and out scheme any coach in the SEC or CFB for that matter.
Gruden has approached a point in his career and legacy that would only see a downshift if he returned to coaching, at any level. His stock is so freakin' high right now, that anything he accomplished as a coach would be seen as a disappointment.
He's not leaving the booth. Accept that.

I could understand Saban, Harbaugh, Kelly (now) or some proven college coach but Gruden is nowhere near a guaranteed success. This love affair is baffling.

Based on what?

Recruits have said they would pretty much line up to play for Gruden.

yep, Jalen Hurd said as much yesterday.
I think there are rumors out there right now amongst recruits. Our interim staff met with the number 1 WR prospect in the country this past week, and is close to getting him to visit.
This is with no contact, offer, or interest from the Dooley regime.

They lined up to play for Lane and Monte, too. How's that working out? They lined up to play for Corch O in Oxford. I just have to laugh at the naïveté of the Navy's fanbase.

How is coaching the Vols gonna get him elected to the NFL Hall of Fame?

Didn't think he would do it for other reasons, but you make a really good point.
