Daniel Larusso, how did this kid ever win a fight?

I'm sure this has been talked about before. I know Miyagi's training had a lot to do with the very little fighting ability this kid had. I think Daniel's opponents over confidence was the only reason this kid ever won a fight in his life.

He did just enough to prevent himself from getting a beat down. He won by surviving. Plus he had an awesome teacher.

Well karate tournaments are different than real fighting. The dude in the first movie had about 5 inches and 40lbs on Daniel so he could've just tackled him to the ground. But in Karate tournaments you can't do that...
Now how did he not see the kick coming when he had his hands out and his other leg was broken? I have no idea
Eta: as soon as he wins all these people come up and hug him and shite, but like he's still got a fricked up leg. I'd be pissed if all these people were jumping up and down and shoving me if my leg was broken

Larusso was the biggest mangina I had ever seen. From pissing and moaning to his mother about being lonely after the move out West, to lying to Allie about having a "Turbo Action" crotch rocket. I've watched the movie dozens of times and each time I kept waiting for his balls to drop.

I can understand Daniel winning the tournaments due to his opponents being over confident, and I can understand Daniel getting beaten up on the outside due his reluctance to fight and not resort to being a thug. However this kid shouldn't have stood a chance and for all intents and purposes, lost his life against that Chozen fella in the second film.

And he still hadn't had sex with Ali...so he needed to win to keep that hope alive.
And his opponents only used about 3 moves against him...which played perfectly into the fact that he only learned 3 defensive moves.

I actually watched the second one the other day and came to a conclusion. Daniel only wins because his oppenents hate him so much that they give Daniel penalty points when a cobra ki kicks him while he's down. Watch the second movie and all of Daniels points come from cobra cheap shots.
