Ok - here is the situation:

A substantial bayou runs through a WMA I usually bowhunt. On Saturday, ducks were piling into it with reckless abandon presumably due to pressure from surrounding waters. It is faily difficult to access by boat (closest launch is 7 miles away - 2 miles down bayou to another bayou then 5 miles up that bayou).

Here is the dilemma: I can hunt from the banks of the bayou and probably kill a fair number of ducks, but I don't have a boat or a dog to retrieve ducks with. Anyone have some suggestions?

Pack an inflatable boat, like one you would bring to the beach and blow it up once out there.

How far do you have to walk from where you park the truck?

Get yourself a cheap remote control boat and fashion some type of push on the front.

Run it out there.

Push ducks to bank.

????????

Profit????

Kite string and a stick, did it plenty of time as a kid shooting woodies on a bayou. Kite string is cheap and easy to pack, sticks are everywhere.

I used to shoot woodies on my dad's pond. It wasn't too much of a hassle to hang them with a spinner bait and reel them in. I guess it depends on how far of a cast you would have to make. For me it was never more than about 20 yards.

I bought a poke boat out of the back of DU Magazine for this purpose. 27# or so, easy to carry anywhere.

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and hire a Messican.
