We've always viewed them as a "trash" duck, and tried to let em fly...

What say you?

Do not shoot. Will not shoot.
I would rather shoot other birds...

I always hunted in rice fields, so we could be more selective...

I'll take spoonies over mallards, pintails any day. If they're fat, they're good. If they're skinny and red, toss 'em. I've seen FEW that are red and skinny.

One came hauling arse through the decoys Saturday morning and someone shot it. The immediate reaction from the whole blind was....frick!!!

They eat rice too. That being said we only shoot them when it's really slow. A lot of times we pass on teal for big ducks if the action is good, so spoonies only get shot if it's a big mistake somebody makes. I've never had anyone tell the difference in the pot or on the pit to date.

I hunt in the ricefields and marsh we shoot spoons all the time they taste like any other duck.

Only parasites I have seen in ducks were big ducks not spoons.
