You got it, 312.
There are dozens of stadia around the country that get loud when the circumstances are just right .
Death Valley is still living on a reputation built long ago, when it actually seated less.
That's a shame, in my view.
Now, when are they going to start playing "Neck" again and can they do it before half? Got places to go, things to do...

Agreed. Fat cats and those that inherited well have bogarted all the good seats. And their blue hair and high priced outfits can't be out in the rain/cold/wind/Divison II games. However, I've tried selling my extra season tickets for the season, and game by game, and had few takers, and been stood up, lied to, and screwed over in the process by othe so-called Tiger fans. And I was never asking over what I had in them. Carried my 2 extra tickets into a Top 20 nighttime matchup in my pocket last week because I couldn't even give them away. So, if Joe Fan really wants to go, and is whining because he can't, then he just wants to whine.

At the same time the commercialization of the college game has led to higher ticket prices, suites, parking fees etc, so that attendance can be a luxury for those who can afford it.

A lot of folks who ARE more emotional attached, knowledgeable and loyal get left out.
The reality is that if some "avg. joe" or "blue collar worker" or whatever euphemism you want to choose really wants to go to a game, it is ridiculously easy to find tickets these days. Yes you have to do a little leg work. Yes you may have to cut your 12 hour drinking day down to 10 1/2. But In actuality it's probably cheaper to buy tickets game by game then submit to the TAF or LSU fees of a season set.
My 2 friends and I went looking for MSU tickets 1 hour before kickoff. We had 4 in the East Upper, but decided to try and get some lower bowl upgrades for a good price if we could. By the time we walked in we had 11 FREE tickets between the 3 of us, including a pair on the 50 yard line. There were hundreds of tickets being sold at a fraction of the price before the game, just like at any other game not called Alabama.
The next time some die hard fan says he's shut out of Tiger Stadium by the fat cats, call him a liar and tell him to walk his arse around the stadium 60 minutes before kickoff. He'll find everything he needs.

People need to stop coming on here and acting like they can't believe the school is letting this happen. And acting like only real fans would be outraged at this because, lsu football and tiger stadium should be some highly spiritual and religious thing that you can't explain, that shite is played out and lame as frick. You sound like a ten year old that just started watching games and can't understand why people don't stay in the stadium 2 hours after the game is over.......go away
And the majority of the fans that leave early are life long fans that have been watching lsu for 20 plus years

Let's recruit only 5* fans from now on! And, let's over-sign too...just in case!

I read it.......you're lame, just like the other 15 douchebags that started the same exact thread after the msu game

Other than Alabama, you could have attended every game this season in the lower sidelines and probably not spent a DIME.
The idea that people are getting priced out is absolutely moronic.

Yes,
I see that the only reason people cannot attend the game is
1) they do not properly anticipate the number of people who have tickets but don't intend to use them ( see orig. post) ; and
2) they drink 12 hours a day and are otherwise shiftless incompetents.
is this Tiger Stadium or the GOP Convention?

Anybody crying about how Tiger Stadium is dying wasn't there Nov 3 and probably didn't even watch it on TV.

I'll try this again since you seem incapable or resistant to accepting the fact. EVERY SINGLE GAME this year has had available tickets. Every one. Nobody that really wants to attend a game is priced out.

Obviously, TS was not dead on Nov. 3rd. But there were 20K no shows for the very next game, perfect weather, close conference game not really decided till Loston's interception TD run..and there may have been 40K in the stadium then. True enuff, it's your money & time, spend both as you will. But then don't sit here & knock any & everything from CLM to individual players for their performances. And for damn sure don't jump on here & proclaim just how great TS is. The fan base at TS is most definitely dying, pick your reasons as they fit your opinion, but it is a fact. Consider that if the cycle ever brings LSU football down just a notch & we lose 3-4 games. Can you imagine all the no shows then? That game Sat nite, against a quality SEC team, was a national embarrassment. I can only hope SVP did not see all those empty seats.

He won't understand, he'll just keep saying to go read his original post

You people act as if someone that lives 2+ hours away should just head to the stadium and hope there are tickets to be had. Not everyone lives in B R and I sure as shite wouldn't take my daughter to hang around TS hoping we'd get a couple of tickets.
Another thing: I LOVE when people say they couldn't GIVE away their tickets for the MSU game. If this was really true then the OP is right. The fans have become spoiled and can't be bothered to attend any game that doesn't have a top 10 opponent. The only other explination is that homeboy didn't really try too hard to "give" away his tickets.
College football is becoming the NFL and that brings with it a whole shite-load of bad things...like shitty, self-entitled fans.

I tend to agree with this. In my view, the decline is a reflection of the fact that most fans - and most human beings - are becoming increasingly lazy, no account, complacent, listless pigs. God forbid we demonstrate energy and passion on two consecutive weekends.

Look, fans showed up and made lots of noise against South Carolina and tons of noise against Alabama. Are you under the impression that Tiger Stadium was always rocking come hell or high water back in the "good ole days?" Give it a rest. That's not the case. Tiger Stadium is - consistently - the best "big-game" environment in the country for college football. But if it's not a big game - for obvious reasons - the crowd is not nearly the same. It is what it is.
I was slightly perturbed by the turnout on Saturday, but really, I can tell you the primary reason why - it was Mississippi State. We are 19-1 against them (I think, feel free to fact check) in the last twenty meetings. Regardless of their rank or what takes place on the field, most folks considered it a big ole W like they did Idaho, North Texas, etc.
And to those who insist the "real, die-hard" fans are "priced out" of attending... clearly you have not gotten your arse to the stadium for any game this year. Even for Alabama, you could find tickets for sale. Most of the games have had tickets FOR FREE! If these legions of priced-out fans are just wallowing on their couches on home then here's some advice - go to campus with some cash, tailgate a bit, and walk to the stadium at least an hour before kickoff with your hand in the air requesting your desired number of seats. You'll get a seat - probably at a reduced cost - and get to scream your goddamn head off from kickoff to the end gun.
