Holy shite...that sounds just like the stuff that was being said on here last week....almost to the word.

Les is overdue for trying something crazy.
It crossed my mind that one of those two field goals inside the 10 yard line might have been faked or one of the ensuing kickoffs was going to be on-sides.

i think he called a fake FG then we called a Time out when we set up because I think they saw something...

Search deeper and you will find cock fans who thought he passed too much and felt Lattimore should have gotten 25+ carries.

quote:I agree. Both Shaw and Spurrier let the crowd at TS get to them, I think. No idea why Spurrier didn't put the game on Lattimore's back instead of Shaw's. He went completely away from the run in the 3rd Qtr. Miles did just the opposite, using several LSU backs to wear down So Carolina's D, and it worked. Also, Miles didn't get desperate or greedy and opted for a FG, trusting LSU's D would get the ball back for him. He was right.

Considering the huge offensive output and time of possession difference and the fact that LSU went into the game with less to work with(injuries and inexperience), I would have to say Miles easily outcoached Spurrier. The only thing I think Spurrier did better was redzone offense.

Also, SC had their most success late in the first half passing. Spurrier said it at half that he was going to throw it more in the second half. LSU did a very good job with the DEs staying home and not speed rushing around the edge....this negated Shaw from scrambling and forced SC to run up the middle if they were going to. It was pretty obvious throughout the game that LSU wasn't going to let Lattimore or Shaw run and was trying to force Shaw to throw it to beat them.

I think your right. I think they didn't have the right personnel.

Please. We clearly are a more talented team and Miles managed to win.

I had to make sure I wasn't reading TD there a couple times.

quote:I still think that in order to set up the pass, you have to run the ball occasionally just to keep the defense honest. I think Spurrier lost his patience with it, and I think it frustrated him no end; I mean he always looks like he's one jalapeno away from indigestion, but he was fit to be tied on the sidlines. He relied too much on the pass, and LSU was ready for it. Shaw was rattled in the 2nd half by the crowd noise and the pressure. He regained his composure eventually, for the Cocks' final TD drive, but by then it was too late.

Anyone else notice that Spencer Ware was an edge blocker on one of those field goals?

Most of these posts are way wrong.
Miles and his staff did their usual excellent job. So did Spurrier. LSU won in the trenches on offense and defense, and that's what most fans confuse with 1) good coaching 2) good QB'ing and 3) good RB play.
