i was just honestly shocked so many people thought St Aug would win. Im not putting the win on the pedestal, but its fun to ruin's Aug's morale

Yeah, folks have to give Crutch some time... Luckily for us, he don't care about win streaks or going 10-0 during the regular season(Been there, done that)... But enjoy the bragging rights though... To say we haven't been relevant in awhile, yall definitely like to brag about those Aug victories

Funny how when Aug or WM lose it's just another regular old game that doesn't mean anything. But if they win a big regular season matchup, look out.

I seriously hope you are not greywolf... And what was your case?

No I never post on that board. My case was the ref issue. I said that St. Aug is never beaten by a better opponent, that it's always the refs. One of your fellow Knights disagreed.

For one Rummel could never ruin our morale. It just ain't gonna happen. We all know that Rummel might be the biggest choke artist program in the history of the LHSAA.

I wouldn't call them choke artists.....

Going back as far as I can remember - with their losses after the first round - they have by and large been beaten by better teams.

Late 90s they blew a game vs destrehan. 70s.. they lost best player in pregame run onto field and lost a 2nd round game - probably to a better team - certainly had more d1 players.

look at their semifinal runs and final run - in every case - they lost to better teams. In the years shaw sent em home - Hank is very hard to beat twice....

But since Tierny left shaw they have been the bell cow of the catholic league.

The thing is - most involved with Rummel - readily admit they were beat by better teams.

yeah rummel ran roughshod through post katrina new orleans schedule too... key loss to point out to eventual 4A runner up in megaphone game.

That's your opinion, I disagree. The final score and the run the tors had in thte playoffs was pretty strong and were a play away from winning in the dome.

I saw both teams play several times that year on film and in person tors were better

Good post. They usually do get beat by the better teams when it matters. Evangel sent the most talented Rummel teams in history home. In my opinion. Those teams are some of the best in the history of the LA HS football.

As for Aug not being relevant, I'm not talking about Rummel just beating them. I'm talking about not being relevant AT ALL in the last 20 years or so. Against anyone. Not just Rummel.

Aug made a good run in 2000, taking a loaded team and beating defending state champ Evangel in the quarterfinals to earn the right to host West Monroe at Gormley in the semis. The game was on TV on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and I forgot the kids' names, but an Aug kid, one of the fastest they had, broke away on a long run and a white WM linebacker caught him from behind, not even close to scoring. WM shut out St. Aug 17-0 and beat Shaw a week later for the title

We tried to pass too much in that game and it gave WM(#1 in the country) offense too many opportunities... Should have just pounded the ball with BenJarvis Green instead... That's how we defeated ECA...

Hey, I'm not the one who brought up the relevant stuff... Wish I was around to see those State Title games... Hear that Rummel, State Titles

Anyway, I hope Damien Williams can heal up soon.. Looking forward to seeing the Rum/WJ matchup

Rummel would consistently make it deep into the playoffs then lose to superior teams usually bc of Rummel's traditionally poor passing game.

They can pass the ball this year but the thing is they dont have a horse in the backfield like most years to tote that thing.
