So how big of a deal do you guys think Dawn and the Sword of the Morning are in the end game?
The fact that it's just chillin in House Dayne waiting on the next SOTM, makes me believe the theory that it has something to do with the AA prophecy. But I'm more of a fan of the theories that have Lightbringer as more of a metaphor than an actual sword so I'm a bit torn

I honestly don't think they will have much to do with the overall story. It's not like every houses' badass sword has to be that important.
I think it's just Martin giving way too much backstory, as usual.

I just think it's way to magical and badass (and has too many Tower of joy connections) to not be a big deal at some point
Id feel differently if it were in possession of someone else since Authur died, but since it's not and it's a sword given by being deserving over being handed down by name makes me think it is important and fits to well with some of the other magic and lore

Unfortunately, the world is just too big now for me to think it makes a difference.
I'm in the camp that believes we will never hear from Benjen again because we just don't have time to.
If Dawn mattered that much, we would have heard about more than once or twice. Hell, we've heard of the missing Lannister sword more than Dawn.

I
IF Coldhands turns out not to be Benjen, I still think that he is involved with the children of the forest somehow and Bran will see/find out while with Bloodraven.

I've never been one to believe that Benjen HAS to be seen again. He served his purpose of Gettin Jon to the wall.

Personally I think that Dawn IS Lightbringer, or the original at least. Its purpose within the story is to serve as a relic.

Also, as a non reader that's just been spoiled about Jon Snows future and then just said frick it on the spoilers and read all the theories and pieced a lot together I have a question....
So to my knowledge, whenever Stannis rode on Winterfell (or tried to) in the books, didn't Mellisandre stay at the wall? Which opens up the possibility of her resurrecting Julius Jon Snow Ceaser, no?
I ask because in the show she left with Stannis...so how does that play out? Does that mean Stannis will have to retreat to the wall around the same time Snow is coming back from his trip beyond the wall for the wildlings?
Or did I just completely whiff on what actually happened in the books?

She stays at the wall in the books.
The pink letter is a major cliff hanger in ADWD. I hope they don't leave it out of the show.

I still hold on to my personal theory that like the targaryians, the Starks have an affinity for cold and this affinity has kept him in control of his body even though he was brought back as a wight.
I think this will also come into play with Jon somehow.

Can someone explain why "Hooded Man=Jaime" isn't a theory?
Here's my thinking: Brienne tells Lady Stoneheart that she'll kill Jaime. She goes and finds him and instead of killing him she gives him a chance to fulfill his vow to return the Stark girls. They hear that Arya is at Winterfell and go up there to get her. They sneak in and start killing people ninja-style and then Jaime meets Reek for the hooded man scene. Jaime would recognize him as Ned Stark's ward because they met when Robert went to Winterfell in the first book.
I know there's some reason this can't be it but I can't put my finger on it.
Edited because I suck at words.

Also, the hooded man doesn't appear until well after the wedding so fake Arya would be in her room crying and Jaime/Brienne would never see her to know that she was a fake.

The Pink letter would have to be changed at good bit, due to the changes in the story line.

The Littlefinger FB page has reports from IMDb that the Night's King may reappear again in E8 & E9, or whichever episode they go to Hardhome.
Since the show is exploring Hardhome, what do y'all think Tormund & Jon will find there?

And these are fair points - I always thought it was to show how significant it was for Tywin to get Valyrian steel back in the family that he shite on tradition and melted down Ice.
But, in the books I would say that "Dawn" is trending (a little) because of Darkstar. If we ever get a telling of what happened at the ToJ by Howland Reed, perhaps Dawn will become significant again - perhaps it has to do, again, with Jon - as I believe he is not a key, but THE key to all of this - I believe he is the "Song of Ice and Fire" - Targ/Stark, Azor Azhai - TPTWP and maybe he gets special dispensation to carry Dawn over a member of House Dayne.
(On the other hand, if he is a Dayne, rather than the product of R+L, maybe he is the new Sword of the the Morning and nobody knows it yet.)
Of course, Jon Snow already has an Other/Wight killing Valyrian steel sword from yet another house.

Tormund may find a Super 8 motel, and I hope Jon finds "The Rick"
I know he's supposed to be in Skagos, but it'd be sweet to see him

I'm really hoping R+L is one giant smokescreen.

I think they'll probably find some pretty hairy stuff at Hardhome - isn't that the place with the "dead" floating in the water and stuff. Though I guess they'll have enough healthy wildlings left to justify the big "let them pass" controversy among the Night's Watch.
Regarding the Night's King - I still think they may "humanize" the White Walkers in some way - not necessarily make them good guys (they did slaughter at least one village and killed both wildlings and Night's Watch men already). But some sort of civilized beings - the flip side of the followers of the Lord of Light in some ways with neither being necessarily all good or all evil.
