So about stonemen.,.
Does greyscale actually make you heavier? I thought it just was like leprosy, made your skin nasty and fricked with your mind in late stages. But apparently you kinda sink to the bottom of the river/cant swim real well?

I rewatched the episode today and wondered about them sinking, cause the first guy jumps in to the water like he's going to attack from below. I mean, it sure looks like he jumps in the water on purpose, but the other guys seem to sink immediately when they fall in.
It sure showed up on Jorah fast, so I wonder how advanced it gets by the time we see him fight in the pits. Or they somehow slow/stop it like Shireen had done to her

Seemed like it took many months for it to progress for joncon in the books.
Posted on 5/14/15 at 6:29 pm to Cosmo
It did. Do you remember if he saw it right away, or did he just know he got touched?
Posted on 5/14/15 at 6:40 pm to putt23
Wasn't he in the stormlands when he 1st saw it?
Posted on 5/14/15 at 7:00 pm to TigerintheNO
I believe so. He knew he got touched doe.

Jon is infected with greyscale during the journey on to Volantis when rescuing Tyrion from drowning in the Rhoyne, but keeps it a secret.
When Jon reveals to the high commanders of the Golden Company that the young man with him is actually Prince Aegon Targaryen the men greet his announcement with silence. Connington realizes they know, as Harry Strickland had told them already.
Upon learning that Daenerys Targaryen remains in Slaver's Bay, the Golden Company, under Aegon's direction, decide to invade Westeros instead because the time is ripe.[18] Jon, Aegon and the Golden Company land in the Stormlands and take several castles, including the Connington ancestral keep, Griffin's Roost. They next plan to take Storm's End, where Aegon will raise the standard of House Targaryen above the battlements.[16]
Jon is plagued by guilt over the Battle of the Bells and hears the tolling of the bells every time he closes his eyes. He knows that with greyscale death is coming for him, but hopes to live just a few more years to end the Robert Baratheon's line and put Aegon on the Iron Throne. Jon Connington believes if he can achieve this it will finally stop the tolling of the bells and he can die content in his home of Griffin's Roost.
from Westeros
I know I read somewhere that 2 actors were cast for roles but the characters weren't assigned. Maybe with that and the Nicolai "duck" spoiler they may show up.
Even though Lena did a stoneheart picture and she never showed up. Who knows

so he believes he can live years with it, so maybe it just shows up on Jorah right away but doesn't advance right away

Not sure if this had been discussed but to add further evidence that tyrion is a targ. When Daenerys had her baby it was described as appearing "monsterous" the same description that was given to tyrion when he was born.

Weren't those just rumors though? Didn't Oberyn talk about visiting Casterly Rock and seeing that instead of the monster they had heard about, Tyrion was just a baby dwarf? Unless that was just in the show, it's been a while since I read the books.

correct but the description is the same.

Also, Tyrion, Dany, and Jon Snow all killed their mothers in childbirth.

I'm starting to see the similarities in the backstories, too. The wildling prince, as well.
If R+L=J - then Jon, Dany and the wildling prince were all born during a battle/storm/siege. Although we've no specific details of Tyrion's birth - at least the environment - it is assumed that it was in a relatively quiet environment, relative to the others. That might be a discriminator.

I had forgotten how shocking some of the early twists were but my son started binge watching a few weeks ago in down time for getting ready and taking college finals.
He heard me mention Eddard Stark in passing and questioned me about it. I "admitted" that Ned was still around till the present. Then a couple of days later I got a call from him while I was in the car and he said "you lied to me!"
Then yesterday when I went home for lunch he was on the Rains of Castamere (Red Wedding) episode. It was fun watching him watch that.
Now that the show has diverged from the books and passed them up in some places I guess we're all going to be in that boat to get surprises.

This is being posted as fact, but they aren't really even all that similar. Rhaego:
"He was scaled like a lizard, blind, with the stub of a tail and small leather wings like the wings of a bat."
Tyrion:
"A head twice the size of his body, a tail between his legs, claws, one red eye, privates of both the girl and a boy."
The closest comparison is the stub of a tail and an actual tail. I think it's a serious reach to use this for Tyrion is a Targ. I like this guys argument against it. From AFOIAF: (Warning ahead because HOLY WALL OF TEXT!)
"I disagree about the “Aerys is Tyrion’s father” theory. I never believed in it, and I think that “The World of Ice and Fire” only makes it even less likely. The book hints that Joanna may or may not have had an affair with king Aerys in his youthful pre-crazy days when she was a young lady-in-waiting to queen Rhaella (the only thing that’s 100% is that he was really, really into her), but it makes it absolutely clear that she did not have an affair with Aerys after she married Tywin. (...) Rhaella sent Joanna away after Aerys publicly humiliated Joanna and Tywin at their wedding, “joking” that it’s a shame that the “first night” custom had been abolished, and “taking liberties” at the bedding. Since the bedding consists of the men disrobing the bride and making lewd jokes about the upcoming consummation (with the women doing the same for the bridegroom), this probably means Aerys took the opportunity to grope Joanna and probably said exceptionally inappropriate things, too. Tywin was furious, as you’d expect, and Rhaella dismissed Joanna from her service (probably to protect her from Aerys, among other things) and Joanna left the court and went to live in Casterly Rock. That was in 263; in 266, she gave birth to Jaime and Cersei (the timeline makes the other popular theory, that Aerys was their father, impossible).
The incident (...) was in 272 on the occasion when Tywin and Joanna were present at the anniversary tournament of Aerys’ 10th year on the throne. (...) Aerys asked Joanna, in front of everyone, if her breasts “which used to be so high and proud” were ruined from giving a suck to her twins. Tywin tried to resign after this new insult, but Aerys wouldn’t have it. Two notable things: 1) even though he was deliberately being an a-hole and trying to insult both her and Tywin, Aerys did not speak as someone who’s seen Joanna since she had given birth to Jaime and Cersei – and before that, they weren’t even in the same location since her wedding; it’s clear they hadn’t seen each other for a long time. And 2) after this incident, why would Joanna ever want to jump into bed with a man who publicly insulted her like that (twice)? Does anyone think Aerys had charmed her with his insult? It’s also not like she had anything to gain from it, either. (...)
So, the only way TWOAIF supports the theory is by having Joanna and Aerys in the same location at one point roughly in the timespan of Tyrion’s conception (which may also be a few months earlier or later). But the theory entirely rests on the possibility that Aerys raped Joanna, that Joanna hid it from Tywin, and that, for some reason, she decided not to use moon tea to abort the baby when she got pregnant and knew it could be the result of the rape. It “supports” it only if one already really wants to believe that Aerys is Tyrion’s father and is looking for anything that makes it possible. Heck, if we didn’ have Catelyn’s POV, and someone were to propose a theory that Littlefinger was Robb’s real father, you’d find more evidence for that than you’d find for Aerys being Tyrion’s father."

Mothereffin BOOM! Of all the crackpot theories none is so forced and ill conceived as the Tyrion/Targ theory. I hate it with a fiery passion not be eclipsed by the Fourteen Fires of Valyria,
Posted on 5/15/15 at 12:33 pm to Mr. Wayne
It is forced. I agree the evidence only supports it for someone who has already drawn the conclusion. I admit it is a possibility (for the irony, if nothing else - Tyrion, while flawed, is the most "Tywin" like, from a cleverness, rational and competent standpoint, although Jaime has grown as much as anyone during the story), but dismiss it as pure crackpot. Everyone wants to see Tyrion riding a dragon. Targ blood may be a requirement or at least the most likely qualification for that.
This is excellent analysis.
This isn't remotely the same as the almost certain R+L=J - which is still possibly not the case, but it will because the reader was consistently and deliberately misled or GRRM changed it to make the theorists wrong.
It is one of the bigger stretches of the theorists.

The closest thing to fact the theory hinges on is that Joanna and Aerys were in King's Landing in 272 and Tyrion was born in 273. What if she was in KL January 272 and had Tyrion December 273? What if it was Dec 272 and Feb 273? There are just way too many assumptions to make on this one. Mismatched eyes? Euron Greyjoy. Mother's dying in childbirth? They are in a time with chamber pots and using herbs as medicine. Just don't see it.

I think there is some significance to that -

Fair enough, but the commonality doesn't have to mean shared blood, either. Now, if you buy Mance Rayder is Rhaegar (I'm not sold, but it is intriguing) - it starts to make sense again as a unifying "Targaryean" feature. But it is more likely these main characters that also have this in common have a deeper importance to the story - not necessarily ties to blood or House Targaryean.
