Reasonable and accurate, if it was a one year deal. If it was not, then LM response of yes was reasonable and accurate.

Coach Miles is almost always vague in his speaking. He doesn't owe you shite. He doesn't have to explain to you whether the separation of TM from LSU being permanent was by LSU's doing or of his own choice.

You know that permanent is not the same as irrevocable, right?

Permanent means not temporary. That just distinguishes it from, say, a two week suspension. The dismissal could very well be permanent and still allow for reinstatement.

Where are you getting this?

Do you think they can test somebody that they have cut loose. Students are not tested at random. They would have no right - unless they both agreed to something in advance. If LSU leaves no road back and TM does sit out a year he can go anywhere he wants. Same as ZM did from GA.

The only place he couldn't play would be LSU.

Think NS would turn him down cause he hurt Dre?

If (and it's a big if) he can wait a year he's good. No testing, no classes unless he wants them. Stay clean for a season. Go NFL.

I know that bashing Guilbeau is the cool thing around here...but Jesus Christ this is retarded. The guy uses a direct quote from someone within the Athletic Department, who he names by name, and you are making him to be a bad reporter? No matter what you think of him, Guilbeau would NOT fabricate a quote from Bo Bahnsen. Bo is high enough up in the AD AND his area of expertise is compliance...so he sounds like a pretty damned reliable source to me...it isn't like Guilbeau asked the 6th floor cleaning lady for a quote.

If you ask me, it sounds like Guilbeau was doing his job BETTER than the other reporters...he got a quote from a good source that nobody bothered to go to. Hate Guilbeau all you want, but lay off him here.

Guilbeau misquotes people on a regular basis and that is a fact. Watch any press conference and read Guilbeau's article about it and you'll see what I mean.

Well, GG said LSU would go undefeated during regular season last year... even with JL at QB after JJ screwed up. Sounds smart to me....

If he wants to write opinion pieces and piss people off thats fine. He has no talent so that's the only way he can generate readership. But he is a hack and intentionally misquotes people to fit the slant of his article. If he would just come clean about what he is I would have no issue with him.

Herb Vincent (LSU SID)
I'm sure someone has pointed out that he is not the SID (that's Bonnette). Herb is the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Relations/Sr. Asso. Athletics Director, which carries a bit more weight IMO.

It's not clear who is calling the shots here, but Herb seemingly contradicted the school's longtime compliance officer. Someone needs to step up and take charge.

I honestly don't see this contradiction. What are you all seeing that I am not seeing?

Ok..I hadn't seen that tweet from Herb. I saw the other one about LSU not speculating on Mathieu's future football plans. Makes a little more sense now...but I still think there is a lot of smoke with no fire.

Okay, but that's not Vincent contradicting anybody from LSU. That's Vincent contradicting USAToday (or, rather, whoever tweeted that USA Today reported that).

I don't understand why the compliance officer has anything to do with this. It's an internal LSU matter, not an NCAA violation. It's not surprising that he didn't know what he was talking about.

USA Today's source is AP reporter Glenn Guilbeau. I know, shocker.

No, it's not. Bahnsen is the AD's compliance officer. He said that Mathieu is "permanently ineligible." Whether you call that a statement or an announcement, he said it.

Vincent then said the school has not, in fact, stated/announced that. To me, that means there is not a clear message within the AD/admin on what the real story is.

I do get why GG is a little pissy. He did who do diligence and actually got a quote from a high ranking person @ LSU prob is that that person cannot speak for the school. Herb Vincent can and did.

I don't think GG made that up, but too bad from him its NOT the official word from LSU.

Right. My point being that Vincent did not contradict anything from LSU. He is contradicting the reports that claim LSU made a statement to that effect.
