yea, like 100 years ago with Bevo.
Stealing mascots was a thing in the SWC. Every single school had their mascot taken at some point if I recall correctly. That mostly stopped in the 50s and 60s though. I think SMU's pony was the last to be taken in the 60s up until our mascot Reveille was stolen in the early 90s by a Texas student making us the last school in the SWC to have our mascot taken.
Whoever took La Tech's dog either wanted it for being purebred or is just some dumb college kid playing a prank.
I'd bet the former in this day and age.
