Blue Plate cut with water and warm. I like thin sauce.

Bodacious is pretty darn good too.

I do too, especially on pulled pork or beef. Dreamland tastes very much like Blue Plate, but with a bit more of a kick. If you like Blue Plate, you will probably like Dreamland.

Love Bodacious, also. I like their rub and the pinto bean dry seasoning, too.

Haven't seen it in stores anymore. I order it. It's sold in large quantities. It's a base sort of. You have to add water to it.

Yes it's concentrate. I have ordered it too. Comes in gallon jugs.

I have 2 gallons right now. Been using the Dreamland until it runs out. Some people add brown sugar to it, also.

Blue Plate was my family's choice growing up. It was and is sold in concentrate form, but we never added the water and brown sugar called for.

Blue Plate is still available from the manufacturer, Reilly Foods, but as said by others, you have to buy it in gallon containers. You're supposed to add a quart of water and a pound of brown sugar to a gallon of concentrate.

I have bought a couple of gallons over the years, but it's kind of expensive. Many years ago, I did a side-by-side taste test with Blue Plate and Dreamland's (I got the Dreamland straight from Big Daddy himself).

When made with the added water and brown sugar, Blue Plate tastes very close to Dreamland. The ingredients aren't the same, but there are many ways to get that sweet and sour taste.

BTW, I understand that Jay's Barbecue in BR uses Blue Plate as its house sauce. They may be responsible for it still being made.

Or the same proportions of JM and Sweet Baby Ray's.

By the way, check the recipe book for my clone of Jack Miller called Ville Platte Barbecue Sauce.

Jays does in fact use Blue Plate and they thin it out which is why I like a thin sauce and why I thin it out myself. Not sure if they put the brown sugar but I doubt much because it is tart which is another thing I like in a BBQ sauce. I don't like chunky, thick or sweet.

Sweet Baby Rays for the traditional southern sweet BBQ sauce.

Kraft makes a teriyaki sauce that's fantastic on beef ribs.

I make my own mustard sauce and white sauce. I also have a Chinese BBQ sauce that I make occasionally for short ribs or char siu bao. One day I'll take the time to make my own red sauce (sweet/spicy an a vinegar based).

We got some Budweiser BBQ sauce as a gift, we tried it and I believe it's one of the best commercial sauces on the market.
