You going whaling in an inflatable yak? Baw status confirmed
Lol you know what I meant. There are still halibut and such in San Diego Bay so I will need some kind of spear

Can anyone tell be about the Barataria Canoe Launch?
Haven't launched there, but bank fished right next to it. Its swamp and lots of thick grass, so probably not ideal for a pedal drive but would be fine for paddle. Good chance you'll see alligators close up because the canal isn't very wide.
Thanks for the info.... planning to check it out this weekend and get some paddle time and wet some line, then maybe bring the boy out there to start him fishing from the yak.

During the spawn they have some big sac a lait in there. I have walked the trail to the end and caught there. The canal was thick with grass. Looked like it would take a while to paddle. That was over a year ago though

Taking an inflatable paddleboard (which is what the i11s essentially is) through the surf and la Jolla sounds like a recipe for losing a ton of gear. If you havent already bought it, I'd reconsider. If you have, best of luck.
As I mentioned before, my best friend lives just off Mission Bay and fishes out of la Jolla frequently from a Predator PDL. He and many others have lost lots of gear in kayaks in the surf. I can imagine how bad it would be in a boat without any freeboard. Just a thought. Maybe I'm wrong.

5HP engine on a yak
I watched the whole build yesterday. Pretty impressive even if completely impractical. That guy knows how to mod a kayak for sure. He claims he got up to 15-17mph I think. That is absolutely insane. I'd take it for a spin for sure.

I believe it, I know my buddy with a Solo Skiff is getting around the same with a 6hp.
At one point there was a guy on BCKFC that had an outboard on the back of a PA17.

Buddy has a crack in the bottom scupper of his thermoforned kayak. No in hull access. I told him best bet might be drilling out holes on each side of the crack and paste up with 5200 since cosmetics isn’t a concern. Anybody got a better idea?

Will that work on thermoforned abs w/inside access?

Might consider trying one of those hot air plastic welders and some ABS filament (the type we use for 3d printing). The hot air welder can be found at harbor freight, I've had good success making repairs for many things like an old Coleman plastic canoe that lasted many years (actually used zip ties for weld and filler).

If I was going to go through the trouble of putting a motor on a kayak, I think I'd just get a Stik Boat. 17 hp motor, gets up to 27 mph, and can run in about 4 inches of water.

According to the kickstarter campaign they ran retail price is $7250.00, that don't even include a trailer. So tack on a trailer and TT&L and you're probably looking at around $9000.00+. That's way beyond my "yea I'll just buy a boat" threshold.

Damn, that's cool looking. I'll just stick to my Hobie though.

Haven't bought yet. Going to go by the store this weekend to pick their brains a bit more. Although when they were telling me about the i11s I told them I wasn't interested since I couldn't take it to La Jolla and the guy's response was "Why the hell couldn't you?"
I figure as long as the waves are 3 feet or less and you have everything tied down and secured it shouldn't be a big deal

Some guy was selling 2 used in corpus not too long ago. He was asking 12 for both on a trailer.

Buddy in our Lafayette club is selling a lightly used Titan 12 if anyone's interested. He's trying like hell to get rid of it.
