Well, with a proper approach, the right hitters would be allowed to jump on that first pitch every once in a while. But without a proper hitting coach, we could never get a proper approach at the plate.

gotta keep them honest. The only way to strike that fear is to have some added power in the lineup. (extra basehit power, not necessarily HR power)
This lineup didn't have that for two reasons.
1. For some reason LSU has forgotten that the state of TX exists. (Furniss, Hawpe, Larson, Stavinoha, Patterson, etc.) So, we are recruiting marginal guys locally like Moore. Our recruiting on the offensive side of things is terrible. (tl:dr--recruit hitters from TX because our S. LA boys tend to be short and small)
2. Hitting instruction.

He's absolutely right! His hitting coach IS overrated.

So I guess we don't need a pitching coach either--just someone to call the pitches. Either you know how to pitch or you don't.

When I stated that we have the most runs scored up until this point, I was referring every game played. Not just SEC. I was including postseason. I'm not sure if this is correct or not, I heard it on the radio yesterday.

Its up to the coaches to make the changes necessary to take the next step. But we have crappy talent.
We have crappy talent. Recruiting Coordinator position is irrelevant.
We have crappy hitting. Hitting Coach is over-rated. Kids either hit or they don't.
Does this make sense to ANYONE?

I do believe a hitting coach is overrated. I think a recruiting coordinator is far more important

That is correct. We officially lead the SEC in runs scored.

That's great and all, but there are 3 SEC teams ahead of us in the category of Still Playing. But I'm glad playing the entire SWAC this season allowed us to pad our stats enough to lead the league in runs so that we could allow the uninformed stat junkies to provide cover for our incompetent hitting coach. (not directed at you Baloo, just venting)

And our record against those 3 teams was 7-2. Y'all just have to face the fact we had a bad weekend. It happens in baseball

Did Mainieri win in 2009 with Smoke's talent?

if players not getting better or adjusting isn't a hitting coach issue then it is a head coach issue and that isn't good for Paul.

I do not under why we have such anemic batting, especially in the power department. LSU should still be able to go around 80-90 HR's a year if we recruited for the power. There were 120 players as of yesterday who had 10+ HR's, and a lot of them were from major baseball conferences such as the SEC(look at UF). If we actually recruited the big boys we could still see the Gorilla ball in Alex Box.

I guess we've had a bad weekend against Auburn three years in a row.
We didn't just have a bad weekend, we had an abysmal weekend, we had a culmination of the piss poor coaching that's been going on as long as Paul's Godson has been in charge of the hitters.

If you watched this entire season, you know it was more than just a three-game slump. Hell, outside the Ole Miss game in the SEC tourney, we didn't produce offensively for more than a month.

What is our hitting philosophy? Please say something other than "Low Tee Drill".
