that OF was a 3 ring circus compared to the leon landry, mahtook ,and mitchell days.

We went from having 3 CFs out there to three LFs out there.

And the one guy we did have that could cover ground in CF was windmill with Andrew Hatch's arm.

regardless of all of this conjecture .. maineri's got problems .. funny he doesn't say a pitching coach is overrated and that a kid can either pitch or he can't .. why would a hitting coach be overrated at that point ?

I wonder why when I toured 4 different Fla.spring training sites this year, including the Yankees,I saw at least 5 hitting instructers for each team. I also watched A-ROD hit off a tee with an instructor grooving his stroke and checking his alignment for 30 minutes. This is BS he will go down with this decision IMO.

A pitching coach is far more important at the college level. Most high school pitchers don't have great offspeed bc they could get by in high school throwing in the 90s. A good pitching coach teaching pitchers certain pitches is a lot different than teaching a hitter how to have better hand eye coordination.

Hitting coaches are way more important than pitching coaches...aside from hitting mechanics another important role is scouting pitchers for upcoming games and coming up with individual approaches as it relates to an individual hitters strengths and weaknesses. I'd argue the hitting coach should have the heaviest workload

Didnt he imply that when he hired Grewe and give him the title of pitching coach for the first time in his career?

So with the hires of Grewe and Javi.. WTF did CPM hire them for?

Sounds like he's going down with his boy. Why does he love him so damn much?

Why did CLM love JJ so much? Why try solving one of the 2 greatest mysteries in LSU sports history. It will make you go mad dude. Just start a pool and try to capitalize off of CPM eminent downfall.

point being, he's full of shite, covering his arse, and throwing players under the bus to justify javi .. hitting coaches are hugely important at ALL levels .. particularly the collegiate level .. like smartass is saying .. they advance scout upcoming pitchers and chart tendencies and patterns .. at the MLB level .. baseball is your job and you as a player do a lot of that on your own .. in college, you have things other than baseball to worry about .. so a hitting coach is very important ..

You could watch JaCoby Jones bat and know that there was little to no advanced scouting being done. Half the time he got to the plate it seemed like he never read a scouting report in his life.

Which is a shame because he's so naturally talented, and we're letting a guy with no previous coaching experience screw these guys out of quality coaching. Jones is going to be someones draft steal one day because his stock just continues to plummet, but he'll actually get coached up in the minors.

i agree .. jacoby has steadily fallen behind 0-2 and 1-2 his entire career .. he's probably hit defensively at LSU 60% of the time ... i have seen him a few times literally watch three beautiful strikes go by with the bat on his shoulder ... no way someone can convince me that kid is getting coached ..

If that is the plan, just fire him now. We can't go from one guy with no evaluating, coaching, or recruiting experience to another guy with the same lack of experience.

LSU is not a place to get your first coaching job. There is such a thing as the Southland Conference for that. It worked extremely well for guys like Mike Bianco, Rob Childress, John Cohen, Jim Wells, Dave Van Horn, Mitch Gaspard (stretch I know), all of whom are previous head coaches or asst coaches in the SLC, most at NWSt.

Real smart there. ALWAYS throwing the players under the bus.

I can't stand Mainieri. Have fun going down with your boy.

he was part of our class, even though he went MLB. It refutes the argument that PM isin't trying to sign big bats.

I'm not sure if he signed or if he was just a commitment, either way, that argument is erroneous.

Perhaps that is why his fat arse is sitting at home while SC and FL are making their third straight trip to Omaha!
