I strung my new spinning reel with some 20lb or 30lb Daiwa Samurai Braid (I bought some power pro, but it was too small for my liking and Daiwa was all they had at the marina in braid)...I like the stuff. Never really messed with fluoro...but as far as braid vs. mono, give me the braid.

In my experience floro comes with a certain amount of memory although mininal where as monofilament develops memory in the heat. The developed memory is generally much worse.


Honestly with the problems you are having I would guess it was an overfilled spool or was put on with incorrect twist. You could have also developed line twist from a rotating lure. Both can be fixed.

I've thought about it some more and concluded that flouro is pretty much superior to braid and mono in every conceivable way.
