LSU does not have to run from the Florida game. LSU has the CHEST to take on the Gators each and every year

It's got nothing to do with running or chest size.

Its got to do with sizeable advantage Bama has in the SECW race having us play Fla each yr as opposed to them playing Tenn each season.

We're not running from them. Florida was on the record a few years back that they didn't want to play us anymore either. We don't like having to play the a division winner twice a year just to win the conference, and we damn sure don't like having to play more then one national champion contender.

+1

I think it would just be nicer to play other teams from the eastern side too. Once every 10+ years really seems foolish to me. If teams like AL and TN wont to keep their rivalries alive, do it on a non-conference basics, like in other sports.

I'm completely for a 100% cross division rotation, no permanent opponents. But, until then KEEP FLORIDA AS OUR PERMANENT. I don't want Vandy or Kentucky. Let Ole Piss and State have them.

Like it or not, there are two cross division rivalaries within the league that are good for the league (Bama/Tenn & Auburn/GA). Those won't go away. And shouldn't go away. Scheduling those games as OOC could be a possibiltiy. But a lot hurdles there. Plus, taking it out of conference just isn't the same.

I agree. I'll make some calls and see that this thread is delivered to the appropriate people.

meh this all sounds good and all, except we lost to uf in 06, beat the west champs, and didnt make it to atlanta. UF and UGA are the 2 best programs in the east rt now i dont care what anyone else says.

A loss to uf last year might have kept us out of not only of the seccg, but the bcscg. A loss that early on can also be hard to overcome, especially for teams that are aspiring for the national championship. We just lucked out that not only did we play the hardest schedule in a long time, but auburn and florida were on down years. Any other year and those teams would be top 10 or 15.

It's not a question of not having the "chest". That's plain ignorant to think that way. It's a question of fairness. Just because we've had great games against Florida doesn't mean we wouldn't have great games against Tennessee or Georgia. Alas.....we'll never know.

Kentucky beat us in 07 so im not sure where any of yall arguing for the uf series are going with this. I would have loved to beat kentuckys arse again in 12, but thats not gonna happen.

Lets not forget we have our "trap" games against moo state and ole miss every year.

All kinds of FAIL going on in this thread:

quote:

CHEST

Please stop. Just stop.

Even with the loss in '03, and the narrow win in '07, these are the only years modern football that LSU won NC's.

Maybe we would have gotten an opportunity in '06 if we didn't lose to FLORIDA.

As others have said, it is about rotating through the other east teams more often. Your reasoning does sound like "running from Florida".

quote:

We don't like having to play the a division winner twice a year just to win the conference

The only time we played the eastern division champ twice, it wasn't Florida, and therefore had nothing to do with permanent opponents.

quote:

Like it or not, there are two cross division rivalaries within the league that are good for the league (Bama/Tenn & Auburn/GA).

I get your point, but I would argue that the LSU/Florida rivalry has been better for the league than either of those two for more than a decade.

Exactly. With expanding conference size, keep the best opponents and let it be. I would hurl if we had Kent or Vandy as our permanent east team. Might as well play ULL for "game value".

If the 6-1-1 format sticks LSU will play USCe this year and next year and not play them again until 2024. Thats 12 years.

I thought that with the 6-1-1 format, they were doing away with the back to back games, and go on a yearly rotation. That is we would play USCe in BR this year, and then on the road in 2018, and then back in BR in 2024.

At least that's how I understand it.

Like all the dumb fricks from Alabama and elsewhere who think this is what it's about, you're missing the point. It's not about being afraid of the Florida game. It's about playing other teams in the conference more than twice every 12 years..

Someone needs to tell your AD that. He is playing the fairness card.
