re: Who do we put in the 2-hole in the order going forward?

Problem with putting rhymes there is that he protects Katz who is our only power hitter

the ideal 2 hole hitter on this team is Rhymes.
Agreed, Rhymes should be batting 2nd or 3d. Not only would it potentially give him an extra AB per game, but he's not a classic power hitter so I don't understand why he bats 4th 90% of the time. I like Snicks or Ross in the 4 hole.

Plus it's kind of difficult to pull a .475 hitter out of a RBI position in the lineup. It is a quandary.

Nola
Hanover - his average is up to .300 and he's our all-time leader in Bunts.
Katz
Rhymes
Ross
Snickeris DH
Moore
Jones
Fields

Would like for Katz & Raph flip flop. Wanna see Raph in front of Mason to set the table for him. Singles hitter batting cleanup jus doesn't feel right.

It's not right according to baseball unwritten laws but it's extremely effective. He gets RBIs
Nola, kats, and raph are the only three I wouldnt touch

use a ghost man on the bases for when he has to bat 4th

Why? Because in 38 ABs in SEC play he had 7 total hits. That's a .184 AVG.
Why is he even in this discussion?

ideally you'd put Rhymes ahead of Katz but we haven't had a consistent good hitter with power to put in the #5 hole. Nola is probably our 3rd best hitter but he's more of a #2 type IMO.
With Ross and Snickers back in the line-up today - it seemed to give us a big boost. I like Edward and Dozar but they just aren't cutting it.
And with Ross back at catcher and Snicks at DH - that would give us 6 guys hitting .300 in the line-up.

This is how I would do it right now moving forward.
1.) Jones
2.) Hanover
3.) Nola
4.) Katz
5.) Rhymes
6.) Snikeris
7.) Ross
8.) Moore
9.) Fields

In fantasyland:
1. Nola
2. Rhymes
3. Katz
4. Ross
5. Moore
6. Jones
7. Hanover
8. Snickeris
9. Fields
Obviously a lineup like this won't ever happen with Rhymes locked in at 4.

Jones strikes out way too much to be leadoff. He's too aggressive often.

Rhymes is way too low. He's more of a natural #2 or #3 hitter. Also, I do not want to put Jacoby back at leadoff. That didn't work out and he is hitting better. Keep him where he is at for the rest of the year.
Dozar shouldn't be in the lineup anymore IMO (except for spot pinch hits).

I think Nola, Katz and Rhymes as 1-2-3 is the best since it maximizes the ABs they can get.
In that scenario, you may structure Hanover-Fields as 8 and 9 since the former can get on base and run well while the latter seems to be a good bunter to move him over. It also gives the Fields the chance for fewest ABs as the worst hitter while making him a "second leadoff" man with some speed.
Nola
Katz
Rhymes
Ross
Snickeris*
Moore*
Jones
Hanover
Fields
* Might flip-flop depending on L/R matchups

I could see:
Nola
Hanover
Rhymes
Katz
Ross
Snickeris
Moore
Jones
Fields
but kinda sad compared to our 2009 line-up. I know the bats are a big factor but looking back-
LeMahieu
Schimpf
Dean
Gibbs
Ochinko
Mitchell
Mahtook (not quite the 2011 version I realize)
Hanover/Helenihi
Nola
straight sick

I originally had Nola, Katz, Rhymes, Snikeris, Moore. I'd much rather Rhymes ahead of Katz, but we don't have anyone to put behind Katz to make sure he sees good pitches. I wouldn't be opposed to going

if anyone is questioning who to put at DH
Snickeris or Dozar?
Consider Snickeris is hitting .319
vs. Dozar at .264
and Dozar only has 1 more RBI in 34 more AB's
and Snick has a 8:1 AB/K ratio vs. almost a 3:1 for Dozar

Thing about putting Rhymes leadoff is he's batting over .600 I believe with RISP
so you want to give him as many RBI opportunities as possible.
