Most Complete Journey Album!

Spinoff thread from earlier. You can't count their greatest hits obviously, but if you could only take one album with you to the desert island, which one has it all?
for me this is tough, but I go with ESCAPE for nostalgic reasons. I was just starting to be aware of music and bands when this came out and it was purely an ICONIC record.

Well, in the Journey Song Thread, I think I answered this one--I'll just quote it here. DEPARTURE!
quote:
I don't have one favorite, but "Departure" is my favorite album. Less hits than most of their stuff during their heyday, but the under-appreciated stuff, like the sequence of songs from Tracks 3-11, are my favorite Journey moments. I like how this album, particularly in that sequence, flows from song to song.
1. "Any Way You Want It"
2. "Walks Like a Lady"
3. "Someday Soon"
4. "People and Places"
5. "Precious Time"
6. "Where Were You"
7. "I'm Cryin'"
8. "Line of Fire"
9. "Departure"
10. "Good Morning Girl"
11. "Stay Awhile"
12. "Homemade Love"

REO Speedwagon > Journey

Yeah, that's on topic...
Funny you mention that. Both were considered "sell-out" rock bands in the 80's, along with Styx. No coincidence that they were also 3 of the most popular ones. I liked all three.

If I was on a deserted island with only a Journey album I'd use it to sever my jugular.

for me, it would be trial by fire. the record gets very little credit. it's never mentioned when people discuss their catalogue.
my favorite studio record from them.

Escape. But I really like Augeri's Arrival also.

Their first album - Journey. I prefer their sound with Gregg Rolie and Aynsley Dunbar to their sound with Jonathon Cain and Steve Smith.

Gotta be "Captured".... Last record with Gregg Rollie playing that Hammond B3 organ.

I actually prefer Raised on Radio. Evolution would be a close second.
