The battery meter is a nice feature. Mine has Bluetooth connection where I can monitor it with a phone app.

Something else to consider is your current battery charger capability. I had to buy a new charger, as my current one won’t fully charge a LiFePO battery.

Mine is a RoyPow. It’s rated to be submerged. The main reason I bought it. Not sure about the brand you suggest.

In my experience, the 7 days prior to to full moon and the 3 days after are prime time, as long as the water temp is > 68F. You should still see plenty of spawning fish.

War Eagle boats are solid. I have a 2016 19’ Predator rigged for crappie fishing. My next aluminum boat will be a Sea Ark tho....

The order states that it doesn’t apply to outdoor activities as long as you maintain social distancing...

I watched a podcast recently where a University of Oklahoma crappie expert stated that a large majority of crappie will eventually die from stress after catch n release tournament situations :dunno:

I have a 2016 115hp.... it’s actually made by Honda. No issues so far.
re: UPDATE: What Crappie Lures/Jigs do you purchase and use the most?
Posted by LibertyTiger on 2/20/20 at 3:45 pm to boudinman
I prefer Bobby Garland baby shad and baby shad swimmers in Blue Thunder and Green Hornet colors, but I’ve got about every color they make. I prefer pink and chartreuse 1/8 jig heads.

I got $8/ton two years ago for pine, but it went to the pellet plant in Gloster. Pine pulp at that time was $3.5/ton.

re: Preferred rod/reel combo for slabs.
Posted by LibertyTiger on 1/3/20 at 12:48 pm to navynuke
I prefer a 14’ rod for spider rigging. I currently use Southern Crappie brand rods, but just bought a few B&M Capps and Coleman series 14’ rods to try out. I use Lew’s Lazer lite spinning reels. The longer the rod, the longer the land net you’re probably gonna want. Mine extends out to 12’, I think.

re: Any tips for catching sacalait in Lake D'arbonne ?

I catch them fishing the channel ledges with double minnow rigs this time of the year. You’ll need good electronics to stay on the ledges.

I have a CampChef Lux... great for smoking large cuts of meat. Good for burgers, chicken, but doesn’t get hot enough for steaks imho. I like to smoke a steak on it for 2-3 hrs on 220F, then throw it on my gas grill for 1minute on each side. Good eats!!!

I use much older HB sounders (959/999) with DI and SI. I catch all the crappie I want spider rigging with them. If I were upgrading, I would go with the HB unit that would support the 360 imaging unit; the larger the screen the better. My transducer is mounted on the trolling motor.
