Definitely not disputing that. I really like Rickie actually. He's down to earth, and great with the fans.

I started pointing him out to my kids last year as a player to follow. So for the last year or so, my kids have pulled for him to win. We went to the Zurich this year and followed Rickie for about 5 holes (gave him daps after a birdie). After his round, we waited by the clubhouse so that my boys could get his autograph, but he apparentley grabbed a bite to eat inside a suite at the 18th green. After about 30 minutes or so, and no Rickie, we went and looked for him at the putting green. He wasn't there so we walked back to the area where autographs were being done, Rickie was there signing. Now, we're at the end of the line, and I'm not liking our chances of catching Rickie. Rickie kept signing away, and even though one of his agents/bodyguards/friends kept tugging at him to leave, Rickie signed autographs for all of the kids there. My boys were pretty excited.

To Rickie

And yes, that was a cool story.

From what I've read about him, this is not uncommon. I believe it was the Memorial when he made a charge on Saturday a year or so ago and then faltered on Sunday; he had heat exhaustion and his people/doctors tried to get him away and into the cool. He refused and stayed to sign everything for everyone that wanted it.

I became a fan of Rickie after watching him on Thursday at the Zurich. He does seem like a really nice guy, came over to talk to his buddies after hitting his tee shot on 17 and asked them how their other friends were doing in other tournaments around the country, never seen someone do that in a tournament. Also, his ball striking is amazing, he hits the purest ball I've ever seen

Gotta pull for guys like that. I was preparing to tell my kids that we can't expect the pro golfers to sign autographs for everybody there, and we were just unlucky to not catch Rickie, but he kept on signing away and he gained two big fans that day... well, 3 counting myself.

Also, at the beginning of this year, the guys on Morning Drive were discussing players that they wanted to see "break-through", and Rickie was one that they were pulling for to get a win. His image has gotten him a ton of publicity, but he didn't have the PGA Tour wins yet (even though he was playing very well). It's good to see him get a victory under his belt and the pressure to win won't be weighing on him so much.

Re: Rickie

I like him too, but I was just commenting on how funny his followers looked. But that prom pic is awesome.
