He started the tradition where the best linebacker/anchor of the USC defense wears #55... truly a legend. It is a shame he is not elgible for the HOF until 2014...first ballot for sure.

This is my speculation, gunshot suicides are not usually to the chest.

I am not reading 10 pages. Just heard on the way home. Sad. Dude had problems. Drove off a cliff a year or so ago. Heard audio of his Mom giving a statement. Hard to listen to. Someone should have pulled the plug on that statement. Sounded like someone stuck a mic in her face immediately after being told

Because in this day and age, everyone is an attention whore. No one has any modicum of decency. Next they will be blaming/suing the NFL for his suicide. Last I checked, the NFL doesn't force these guys to play and all players are very aware of the chance for long term injury due to playing the sport.

Agreed. I'm glad there are such tough guys out there that never felt real pain, nor know how they'd handle it when it happened. My heart goes out to him and his family. This is one of the times you hear of a celeb death and (at least for me) I don't feel like making jokes. This dude was my hero as a kid.
