13 most useless majors

Why do these people always call into Dave Ramsey's show with $200,000 of student loan debt and no job?

Architecture made the list? There must be a glut of some sort.
Hospitality Management I can see with the tough economy but should things turn around the demand may pick up.
The others are probably useless good economy or bad.

You're undergraduate degree literally does not matter outside perhaps engineering. The reason engineering matters is to explain your shitty GPA.
Law schools only care about the LSAT 80% of the time and GPA next.

I know a bunch of people that did architecture. Seemed like they worked super hard at school, all smart as well, but I think the nature of the industry just makes it difficult to find a job since its traditionally a pretty unconcentrated industry.

ETA: I saw a movie or something that made fun of the English literature student who graduates, then takes his professor's job when he retires, and continues the cycle.
So at any point there are only 4 of these tards running around in the department.

They either turn into teaching professions or the kids go into a field completely unrelated to their majors. In most fresh out of college jobs they teach you everything from scratch so it doesn't matter. Take audit for example. Technically it is an accounting/finance field but they take people from every major.
Key is you have to be lucky enough to get hired in the first place. That's the hard part with most of these majors. Fine arts majors don't get many interview calls from corporate America.

I wonder why. I certainly wouldn't want to hire someone for an accounting job that just wasted 100,000 dollars of their parent's hard earned money.

#12 makes me sad. Failure to pursue knowledge in this field makes one a slave to those who present "the" history (as they have no basis of knowledge to question/verify).

I finished in architecture. I don't regret the education, but it isn't a great career path. The ceiling for a successful architect is less than a quarter of what it is for other professional services industries, much less non-services industries.

I love history, but college history classes were nothing short of a survey of liberal revisionism. Even if you disagree with that, 3-4 history classes are still required for general ed purposes.
As far as being a "good degree to get into grad school", I think those are generally piss poor degrees for grad school, other than an easy route to a high GPA. The business grads that went to law school have a much higher success rate than poli sci/history/etc. as they have an extra set of useful skills, as opposed to a journalism undergraduate who knows how to write and has a law degree.

I think it is all about finding a strong skill you learn as well as a wholesome liberal arts background.

There's something to be said for learning for learning's sake, so I can still respect a history/philosophy major.
