JJ is certainly an upgrade over what we had. Hell, we upgraded the second Trent accepted the TCU job.
I have mixed feelings about this hire. I feel that we should have done better. But it is what it is.
Bottom line is we better get every Louisiana recruit we go after. I'm praying to the basketball gods that JJ can be a national recruiter.
Cuz locking down Louisiana won't guarantee success. He needs to attract talent nationally.

on the good side. im happier with this than i would be tubby smith, and i do think its a very small upgrade from TJ

Not the most exciting hire but just a few things to remember:
1) He is a Louisiana guy, he will do well in terms of recruiting and that is the most important thing in College BBall
2) He did the best possible job he could do at North Texas. As far as I've seen just looking up the North Texas program, Johnny Jones in the best coach in their history.
3) The only question mark is how well can Jones coach in the SEC against some of the bigger names.
4) I think Jones will do a much better job of retaining his players than Brady did.

If Jones can recruit AT ALL, it's a major upgrade from TJ.
TJ straight up just gave up at recruiting.

Well we all know what it takes to win in college sports and that's the players.. He'll lock down Louisiana and if we do that we'll be better ofF then we have the past few years..

Its saddening that nobody cares to coach here even when we wave 2 mill+ at them.

If this is the best we could do,it`s no wonder we aren`t competing with the big boys.

Louisiana recruiting isn't important because the talent sucks overall.
LSU needed a national recruiting guy

I'm not saying he will turn out to be a bad hire, I'm just not excited about it...at all. It would be nice to see this thread bumped in a few years when we win the sec or make the final four or something.
