Anyone know any places that will be opened for lunch on Easter in Baton Rouge? Probably about a $25-30 per entree limit.

TIA

I try not to go to retail locations and such in holidays like that, I feel bad that they are open at all. They should be home with their family's.

I agree with King Ranch. The only way the businesses will close is if there are no customers. I know a manager at a pizza place (no delivery) and they will be open on Easter per the owner. she is not happy. this will be the first year.

i've worked in places like that when i was younger and couldn't believe the amount of people that would come in. my family is really close and i just can't comprehend not spending time with them on holidays.

I worked on Christmas Eve this past year and we were busy up until closing time (we closed early.. I think 3pm?). We had a sign on the door saying we would close at 3pm and people were still just strolling right on in at 2:45-2:50 waiting on groups of friends to come meet them. I want to say the customers weren't out of there until almost 4.. regardless of the sign they saw coming in.

Worst part was I got probably the worst tip percentage I've ever had on a shift on Christmas Day.

i know, i just don't get it i guess, i think its just inconsiderate to ask people to work on holidays like that, maybe i'm just old school but like i said, i avoid retail and restaurants like the plague on holidays.

The thought it very nice, but the bottom line is the bottom line. Some places and some people need to work on those days to support those families. Just sayin'...

I feel the opposite. If they have to work, I might be more inclined to give them business to make it worth their while. I wouldn't intentionally avoid or punish those places just because the owners chose to open. Retail businesses, for example, need to be open on Christmas Eve. In some cases, working folk might not have the time to shop before then, anyway. They also need to make the maximum to counter the slower times of the year.

I generally don't eat out on holidays because it's so busy, though I will be having Easter brunch at Arnaud's and Easter dinner at Emeril's. It will be a very fine day of dining and generous tips unless there are service issues, which I've never had at either of those places on that day or any other day.

I think we all know that restaurants, in particular, open on days like Easter and Mother's Day get a good amount of business. That's why they're open. Makes up for slow periods. Business folks and employees have to do what they have to do to survive.

Me too..I feel like a dick going into a store for something on Easter, or Christmas, that I could have picked up the day before. I just feel too bad for the person behind the register.

Generally though (at least in retail and restaurants I've worked), those working on holidays are not doing it because they need the money so desperately. They're doing it because the owner chose to stay open, the owner isn't even there, and those with the least amount of seniority are forced to go in.

I worked on holidays in the grocery store I used to work in, restaurants I worked in, the clothing store I worked at, etc. and the reasoning they put me there was because I didn't have children so it didn't matter that I missed a holiday and I should give the day off to those with children. Kinda shitty IMO for an owner to keep a business open and not even be there, forcing a bunch of 16-17 year old kids to miss out on time with their families when we all know they aren't needing the money.

Owners/bosses have that preogative. If the employees don't need the job or the money, they should work somewhere that closes. It's business. If I'm an owner in retail, grocery or restaurant, I'd sure as heck be open on days that I can make a profit. I guess I could close, forego the money and fire a few people, though.

Sometimes, it's just part of the business to be open when you might not want to be, crappy or not. I worked on Christmas Eve in high school and in college. I didn't need the money just for that day, but I sure wanted to keep my job, so I did what I needed to do. I never once thought about being mad at the owner. I worked in retail and in banks.

If you enter into the service industry, you should expect to be married to the place on holidays. It's just the nature of the business.

So, is there anything wrong with that?

Nope. One of the perks of being an owner/boss and a means to make more money.

However, it might not be the right choice depending on what type of business you have and whether you have a competent manager/employees.
