I had a discussion about this at lunch a couple weeks back, shortly after it happened. There were people there who thought this was a sincere, sexual perversion, like he was doing it out of some sort of fettish, rape like mentality. I said that I didn't think it was a sexual deviance thing, I just thought the dude was being an a-hole.

That said, I think this guy has been sincerely embarrassed enough in all this. Fine him and maybe give him some community service, but by and large, I think it's time to get over it. I don't think he's a genuine sex offender in all this. To make him register as a sex offender I think is taking it too far.

I'm sure the feelings would not be the same if his daughter were sexually assaulted like this in public

Probably not. Wait, was somebody's daughter assaulted in public?

Oh, they weren't?

If the dude raped the other guy, or raped or fondled or groped a woman, it would be a different story. Instead, it was a dude being a drunk a-hole to another fan. Forcing him to register as a sex offender kind of degrades the sex offender registry, and makes the entire state of LA look all butthurt about losing the NC.

If my daughter (and yes I have one) was of college age and passed out drunk in public and some Bama chick sat on her face while everyone laughed, well I'd be pissed (at my daughter mostly) but I wouldn't want a sexual battery charge to be thrown on the other girl.

+1 I have a daughter, and if someone male or female did that to her, I'd want to kick his/her arse, and my child's arse for being that drunk/stupid. But just because it involved the teabagger's junk doesn't make it sexual. it was grossness, not sexual. it was a fricked up prank involving two or more drunks. embarrass his arse but don't mark him as a sex criminal.

BUT..... this was a male who removed his private parts out of his clothing and placed them on the back of another person's neck....in public.
That is TOTALLY different than a chick sitting on another chick. Jesus....

Who in their right mind would just pull out their shite in a place packed with people..(video tape it)and rub it on another persons face.
....and its no big deal? The guy ought to be sent to jail for being a dumbass(video tape) alone much less sex crime

A friend of mine played soccer in college (big 10) and found himself running across the campus golf course at 2 am. drunk and naked – hazing new freshman players. Anyway the disturbance alerted the campus police and when they caught him and arrested him he just so happened to be w/n 100 yards of some on campus daycare. Got nailed w/ sex offender charge/record.

Specifically using your gentials as the instrument of assault is, by definition, a sex crime. And sex crimes are very serious. These are really not difficult concepts.

And what, in an effort to not look butthurt, Bama fans should've just been allowed to do whatever they wanted in our state that night?

See? You're mad. So you want to use the sexual predator registry as a get-back tool.

Fine the kid and let's beat Bama in football. Not in using legal mandates to punish people for being drunken idiots. It wasn't a sexual assault. Deal with it.

It saddens me to think you're actually serious about this statement.

I sure hope no one makes a decsion on punishment based on what any other state might perceive that reasoning to be.

The law is what it is and who knows what the victim thinks at this point. If it was me, I'd be hopping mad and want the guy prosecuted in a pretty strong fashion. This was too far to be called a "prank". Anyone calling it that is suspect. You might be capable of the same stupidity.

Suppose this was done at some other time and didn't involve any football fans at all and didn't occur after a ballgame. Some dude just sees a drunk on Bourbon street and decides to rub his goods on the guy for fun.
