Cafe Pizzaria in Bloomington Indiana hands down. Most all regional food sucks in Indiana, and they put sugar and butter on their rice instead of gravy (i can attest to that being born there), but this place, this pizza is incredible

Papa's Pizza in Gulf Shores. It is NY style pizza, it is HUGE, loaded with toppings & flavor, crust is flexible but crunchy (kinda like good po boy bread) Had the The George Steinbrenner: alfredo Sauce, Chicken, Bacon, Garlic, Spinach.

I wasn't crazy about Ancora the time I tried it. Very overpriced for a pizza that just was forgettable. Sure, they had great toppings and the crust was pretty good, but it was just a decent, overpriced pizza at the end of the day. Tower of Pizza followed by Brooklyn Pizzeria (Metairie) is my favorite in the New Orleans area. And don't get me started on that Pizza Delicious b.s.

I remember going to Shakey's also. It was in the shopping center on Westbank Expressway and Stumpf Blvd. They used to have a Lionel Playworld their too. We always played Qbert at the Shakey's and watched them make the pizza.

(chicago i guess too, although thats not pizza to me)

That's a convenient way to claim NY has better pizza than Chicago... just claim that Chicago isn't pizza.

And put me down for Giordano's stuffed.

Those are the closest things I've seen to the pizza I had in Sorrento and Pompeii. They are sublime things of beauty. Genuine Neopolitan Pizzas (Verace Pizza Napoletana)

Cavalli Pizza - Dallas

looks amazing.

Cavalli is awesome.

I'm not a huge fan of the "chain" deep-dish places up here. I'd rather stick to the more local ones.

Pizza in Rome did not impress me..

Plenty of great food there, but Pizza was not one of them.

Just like any place on earth, depends on where you go. I had the best piece of pizza I've ever eaten in Rome. Two days later I had the worst piece of pizza I've ever eaten in Florence.

Have any of you guys tried Il Cane Rosso, the other VPN pizzeria in the Dallas area and how does it compare to Cavalli?

In ATL, Nancy's Pizza for deep dish, Baby Tommy's Taste of New York for thin or stuffed. Both places are very good, Nancy's is definitely as good or better than numerous places I have been in Chicago.

When in Italy pizza wasn't in my thoughts, too many other things to eat.
