I mean, I eat it. I don't hate it. You just would never find me ordering/making pasta...

I was unaware that anyone but Yankee tourists ate pastalaya.

Fair enough. FWIW, I usually like all things pasta, but pastalaya sounds kind of revolting for some reason.

There are some things that are good separate but you put them together, and it's disgusting. Like seafood and cheese. Or fruitcake.

Pastalaya was invented for amateurs who couldn't be sure that their rice would come out OK in real jambalaya.

I prefer pastalaya. This is, of course, if it's made in the river parishes. Everywhere else I've ever had it....was horrible.

For the record Pastalaya was invented by a local Jambalaya cook the late Mr. Rogers Melancon, some gumps at a NASCAR race wanted to try pasta they were buying all the ingredients so he did it the result was overwhelming. He brought the dish to Ascension Parish and the rest is history.

I can't say that I prefer it, but I do like it a whole lot. I also like to cook it more since noodles are so much easier to get right than rice.

I enjoy a good pastalaya, but I love a good jambalaya. Pastalaya is easier to make, but cannot reach the greatness of a good jambalaya. Just my $0.02.
