Les Miles will be our Joe Paterno... Although most people will currently disagree.

It should have been Charles McClendon.

Skip bertman when it happens, as far as a coach who did the most for the university.

Great coach? Yes. Great man? Yet to be determined.

are you talking football specifically? I'd go with Skip. I don't see us mourning anyone else as much as him.

Cholly Mac and if LSU would have been an independent like Penn St was for so long he could've tailored made some schedules to make some undefeated runs while avoiding Bama and the Bear every year.

Few schools have that guy. We're one of those that doesn't (at least in football), so no need to try to force it.

there is no such thing.
Paterno was coach for two generations.

Cholly Mac & Skip Bertman. Les Miles if he wins another crystal ball & stays around

Baseball doesn't have as nearly as broad an appeal as football. In 2012, LSU football transcends all ages, races and both sexes. Even Southern fans followed LSU football last year.

closest thing to that you will ever see in Louisiana is Eddie Robinson...

we're not talking about how its viewed outside of LSU. we're talking about the kind of figure that LSU fans would idolize as much as Penn St. fans idolize Paterno. Understand?
