This years class is just part of a recruiting cycle. Our curent depth is in the Jr and Sophs. They came from the last two classes where many started as true frosh. This years class will be the depth this year and next, and the glue that holds the team together three and four yrs out. A lot of why we aren't geting 5 star recruits is our young depth. Next year they will see more playing time and sign up to fill our gaps.

I really dont know why Feist dropped in the rankings. Werent people saying he did well in the UA game?

He was one of the top defensive performers in that game.

While I was hoping that we would have landed a couple of players that chose other schools, I have no problem with the way our class will end up. I kind of find it amusing when people start to cry that the sky is falling because they would have liked us to land maybe 2 or 3 players that we didn't. If changing 2 players out for others is enough to separate a great class from the 'beginning of the end' in a fans minds then they would sleep a lot easier by not following recruiting at all. I also don't understand why people get so emotional over what recruiting services have to say about how good or bad a recruiting class is. Don't get me wrong, I look at them and feel that all and all they do an okay job of assessing some players, however, they miss a whole lot more than they get right. shite, go look at USC's 04' class that had 8 players that rivals considered 5* players. Only 1 or 2 of those players ever amounted to anything at all. People also seem to overlook the fact that these sites are businesses, thus money driven. If you don't believe that the profit motive can also fluctuate how they assess and rate players, you are out of touch with reality.

Bottom line is that we really haven't lost a 5* player from LA that it came back to bite us. McKnight would have been a rotation back at LSU like he was at USC. Janzen Jackson probably would not have come in and started as a freshman - PP, MC and TM didn't. Fact is, the 3* and 4* we signed have outperformed the 5* LA talent we missed out on.

My point is that the 5* players we lost out on haven't gone on to have great success whether it is against LSU or not. Based on recent history, I'm guessing that if Bama didn't get Collins, the guy who would fill that position isn't much of a drop off. If this kid wasn't from LA, half the threads on the LSU recruiting board for the past year would have never been started.

I honestly don't remember him playing very much, and he didn't really stand out when he did.

You must have been watching the wrong game. Dude had a pick and stood up a runningback on the goal line to stop a score.
