Best LSU defensive player

I'm a bammer/gump, call me whatever you want. But I say you're best defensive player is Morris Claiborne. I wouldn't have a problem voting him the best LSU or Bama defensive player coming into the NC game. I might even put Reid 2nd best LSU defender. I do have a problem with HB7 being voted the best defensive player in the nation on the ESPY's. I may be biased towards the Nov5 game where HB7 wasn't really a factor. My question for you corndogs is who do you think is your best defensive player this year?

definitely Mo Claiborne. TM7 gets more cred because he's more likely to make big plays, as well as his special teams production. Mo is an NFL caliber CB imo

Can't argue with you on that one. You could make a case for a few guys. Reid, Claiborne, TM7, Brockers, and Montgomery.

Tough to say who is the best
As far as consistency I'd go with Mo or Brockers
Honey Badger is a hell of a play maker though. So much so that people tend to forget that Mo lead the team in INTs. Mathieu creates a lot of turnovers by forcing fumbles though. It's incredible that he's been able to do it so consistently.

It really depends on your definition of the best. No player in college football made more big defensive plays this year than the Honey Badger. He was a show-stopper most of the year.
Now, if you're asking who has the most pro potential, I'd go with Mo, Reid, or Big Sam. I think Mathieu will have quite a career in the pros, but Mo's cover skills are hard to beat.

I may be biased towards the Nov5 game where HB7 committed a penalty on my boy, Dre. Me and every other gump refuse to accept the fact that he is just that damn frickin good.

While TM7 was coming off suspension, go back and watch the game. He had some huge tackles(one saved a TD, on TR), and look what he did on punt coverage. I think he had a solid game, but you are right that it was his worst. He's back to himself, now. Should return punts, too.

Tyrann wasn't a factor? He made some touchdown saving tackles on Richardson.

If I could only have one I'd pick Claiborne.

Claiborne, Brockers, Mathieu, Montgomery, Mingo, Reid, Baker, Logan,Taylor, Simon, Minter; in that order, IMO fwiw. Also, the top three are better than anyone on 'Bama's defense.

Flip this around - Who is the weak link? I would really like to hear a concensus answer given by the 13 DC's we have faced.

would have to say overall linebacker play, simply because our secondary and Dline are just that good.

Look how tense Maze is w/ his fists clenched, etc. TM7...totally chill.

FIFY
plus, i don't care what you think! i think that all 22 that play on the the D, (yes about 22 rotate in and out) are the best; because they play Team Defense.

We always forget about Brandon Taylor - #18.
Never out of position.
Good tackler.
Good leader.
But Mo is our best player. Having a true cover-corner gives us the ability to blitz whenever we want.
But TM7 is a serious play-maker.
