Just got back form seeing this film tonight and wanted to see who all has checked it out. I was pretty impressed with the way it was filmed and the acting by Daniel Craig.

I was told it was too similar to the Swedish version to be mind blowing. But still really good. is that something you can verify?

I never saw the swedish version and im tempted to watch it right now. But, I read the novel and it fairly covers everything that happens in the book. I'll probably download the next two books in the series soon.
Not giving to much away, but this film has many disturbing scenes that made me kinda uncomfortable for a moment.
Also, on the idea of similar films. I would have to say that Zodiac & Red Dragon are the only two films that i can group with this specific film. Ironically David Fincher directed Zodiac too.

Me neither. After seeing people say the Swedish one is really good, I am going to watch it first.

Zodiac & Red Dragon
Have watched Zodiac at least three times this year and enjoyed it every time. Picked up some info from each viewing.
Thanks for posting. Sorry I can't comment on seeing it yet.

I enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of Daniel Craig which is why I saw it. He didn't disappoint, and Rooney Mara was wonderful as Lisbeth. I'm eager to read the books and watch the sequels.
eta: definitely don't see this with your mother.

I would agree with this. This version is about an hour longer than the Swedish version (maybe a little too long) so they were able to keep some things in that the original had to cut out. The production values for this new one were higher, too.
They did change the way the Harriet mystery was solved, which took me by surprise.
Overall, I thought it was a well-done version, but I wasn't punching myself in the face over how great it was.

This kind of pissed me off - they did a pretty good job sticking to the novel overall though.
If at all possible, read the book before going to the movie.
Craig and Mara did an excellent job.

I'm certainly no expert on that, but if I had to guess, I think the books are popular enough that it will do fairly well and Daniel Craig has international appeal, which could help. I do think they will make the two sequels (maybe filming both at the same time, Peter Jackson styles).

Graphic sexual violence. This movie isn't date material.
