Is Daniel Craig as big of a pussy in this one as the Blomkvist in the Swedish one was? If so, I probably won't enjoy it.

Craig doesn't play it like a pussy. I think I read Roger Ebert say that Craig plays the role with the confidence of an actor who's played James Bond. Which I think is true, and not a bad thing. The guy that played Blomkvist in the Swedish version plays it more "real" for lack of a better term...more freaked out about what's going on around him cuz he's a "normal" guy.

The character in the novel (Blomkvist) was not a tough guy. He was a fricking journalist for Chrissakes. Craig and Nyqvist played him about right, imo.

I said Nyqvist played it more "real." Craig played it with more confidence. Both were good. Playing it like "a pussy" isn't the wrong way to do it. Blomkvist isn't supposed to be Jack Bauer.

Gotcha....my bad. I'm so used to having my gloves up in here, I'm preconditioned to be ready to fight for my opinions.

I read the book. The Blomkvist portrayed in the book was a ladies man, somewhat macho and although he wasn't at a great stage in his life, still a confident alpha male. I saw little of that in Nyqvist. Especially in his relationship with Lisbeth.

And I thought the book ended it better with Lisbeth seeing him with another girl and getting pissed off.

So what's the consensus on this one compared to the original?

The new one is technically superior in every way. There's one thing I liked about the end of the Swedish version more, but both are very good.

Yes. Even though he's is a ladies' man in the book, he's still kind of a pussy though. That's just the character.
