If Yankee stadium can be torn down, so can tiger stadium
It will suck, but it will almost certainly happen down the road

Only if it had the same outside design elements. It would be hard to break from the Bowl seating inside but I'm sure that would have to go. I would also be in favor of having dorm rooms circle the outside of the stadium.

No way you could demolish and rebuild another stadium in time for the next season
The location would have to be different

Maybe but they didn't tear down Yankee Stadium out of necessity. Tiger Stadium can be greatly improved without demolishing it.

I am for renovation - but with as much of the feel of the current stadium as possible. The modern stadiums of today have sucked the life out of stadiums. Very sterile and sanitized, corporate feel to them.

100% behind it. Tiger Stadium is a shithole.
Posted on 12/16/11 at 2:05 pm to LSUdm21
Well yea, you throw money at it every year for renovations if you want
But at some point it's just not smart business. And by that point it's likely that you're passed up by other programs and their stadium

Put in a little extra dough for entrance and exit roads. Anybody ever parked at Disney world? They got that traffic going smooth.

No. It's a sacred venue that has historical value which transcends mere convenience and lavish amenities.

Built in 1924 with a seating capacity of 12000...
Yeah its not a matter of if but when...
However, I think a nifty fund raiser could be started but selling off pieces of the stadium...
A nostalgic relic for those who want a momentum to help build the next generation of LSU Football memories.

Yep, just like they did with the box
And that would raise a shite ton of money...I'd buy a chair

Kinda like they did with the old Alex Box? I'm all for this if anyone wants to donate that much, not sure where the stadium would go though.

LSU is on the cusp of investing untold millions in the construction of a new tier of club seats in the SEZ. I don't believe they plan on abandoning the current edifice any time soon.
Logically, of course, you are correct. Time in infinite and at some point in the boundless future TS will have to be rebuilt or radically overhauled. But I doubt that will be an issue over the next century or so. They'll just keep adding to it and/or renovating it.
Posted on 12/16/11 at 2:18 pm to LSUdm21
As long as they keep it structurally sound with improvements over the years there's no reason it can't last another 20. There's not a lot of earthquakes in La. so this is feasible. After all it's just metal and concrete, this can be replaced and upgraded. And FWIW, I would not want a new stadium in another location but refurbish the one we have to top notch specs.

Tiger Stadium has had structure analysis done a few times in the last decade and it's fine. They'll add the South Upper soon and Alleva seems like he's dedicated to making it a showplace of college football. Like I said, they can do renovations much easier than tearing the place down.

Tiger Stadium looks like crap facing Nicholson now because of the construction having to account for numerous lazy and/or overweight POS's that can't walk up stairs.
The stadium needs upgrades, but it is a freaking college stadium. It's not supposed to be state of the art and this shite is getting ridiculous by some of you.
Renovations are great, but completely demolishing and rebuilding is just stupid, IMO. No value for history by some of you.

I'm pretty sure it's code to have stairs, escalators and elevators in stadiums brah. You can think the ADA for that one.
