Tiger Stadium facilities need improvements, specifically the concourse. The South endzone score board needs to be replaced. And the west upper deck add on needs to be recreated to make it consistent with the original architecture.

Heck a working play clock would be a welcome change.

bullshite. They can do structural rehabilitations just like they do with bridges or other buildings. The fricking Coliseum in Rome is still standing.

The Coliseum in Rome is constructed almost entirely out of stone.

I'd oppose. I love Tiger Stadium.

They do need upgrades though.

with $1B, they could do sometthing similiar to what they did at Soldier Field. keep the outside structure, and build a brand new stadium inside of it

Careful what you wish for. I think the Soldier Field renovations might be a bad model. What they did at BDS though might be more appropriate.

Would you be in favor of this if it meant the demolition of Tiger Stadium?

I'd be all for it under those conditions. (Obviously that's a pipe dream.)

Build it in the likeness of the old Tiger Stadium but yeah, you'd have to do it under those conditions.

gonna need a lot more $$$ than that to replace TS.

It would be close--at least in today's dollars.

JerryWorld cost 1.15 Billion.

But yeah, 20 years down the road, 1.2 Billion may not build half of a 120K state-of-the-art stadium.

Tiger Stadium has had structure analysis done a few times in the last decade and it's fine. They'll add the South Upper soon and Alleva seems like he's dedicated to making it a showplace of college football. Like I said, they can do renovations much easier than tearing the place down.

What would total renovation cost be, compared to building a new stadium? How much has been put into TS the last 15 years?

Are you freaking nuts? Tear down Tiger Stadium...I don't think so! The responses to this post remind me of how young most of the posters must be. I bet 70% or so of people who have attended games since the 1970's will veto this idea. Now I think $1 billion should be used to renovate the bathrooms though.

Well, the first thing they would do is move the stadium out of the core area of the campus. This is why they moved the baseball stadium. They want more space in the core area for day to day facilities rather than a stadium used only a few times a year.

I don't have a problem with it. Since LSU has been a speed team for a decade (and we are dreaming) , I would enclose the thing and get some field turf. I think LSU has played great in domes over the last decade.

This would piss off those who only look backwards, but would benefit the team and the fans on those steamy September days.

I don't really think we need 120k bad, cramped seats. I would be happy with 90k really good seats. Everyone wants to oversell the market. Leave them hungry ;-)

Let's put it this way. I was always somewhat in awe of the Superdome until I went to the Oregon game and then went to the Superdome last weekend and saw the place as plain and as small as I have ever seen it. So bigger and plusher can be better. On the other hand I can't imagine going to a home LSU football in a stadium other than the Stadium I have enjoyed for 40+ years. I am perfectly happy knowning this hypothetical will never happen in my lifetime.

Since this was brought up. That little old red brick stadium still sits as a foundation of that monster.
