If so, what brand equipment do you prefer and why? John Deere, case, kabota, etc

My grandfather, at his prime, had 150 head of cattle. He managed them on horseback.

He's got an old school Ford Tractor

Yes. We use John Deere. Our two options are JD and Case IH. The main reasons for using JD is dependability over the years and dealer support... The Case people could probably give us a good deal on equipment, but the reliability and dedication of the JD technicians and mechanics is head and shoulders above our local Case IH dealer.

I have no doubt that we could change to Case and still be efficient and do just as good of job. But we've formed such a great relationship with the JD dealer and have become to know their equipment inside and out that it's just easier.

Also JD cotton pickers > CIH cotton pickers.

Why are jd so expensive. And if you look through a tractor catalog is all they are selling is JD. Are they that much better?

There's not a lot of difference between brand new and brand new, but there will probably be a huge gap between the same two pieces of equipment in 20 years.

John Deere for sure. You get what you pay for. Definitely. 120 years of family farming talking here.

We are 100% JD. We used to have a fair amount of Case back in the day (40/60), but we slowly sold them off once they closed the Scott Tractor in the parish years ago.

JD makes some great machines, but they are awful proud of them.

Heard a rumor yesterday that JD sold out to the Chinese... haven't found out if true, and if it was just engine part, or what?

I've heard nothing but good things. I hear the store in Rayville is doing pretty well. I see more and more Blue/yellow out in the fields in NELA every year.

I've driven almost all of them. Grew up driving a Deutz-Alis, drove lots of kabotas, CaseIH, MF, New Holland, Ford, and JD. JD is my favorite for tractor work but I think Case or Masey makes a much better harvestor. Can't really say too much bad about any of them other than you get what you pay for. JD is expensive but when maintained properly they can run well over 30 years. Case is cheaper and tend to wear out faster but is still a great tractor. The new ones have too many electronics on them that makes them act funny.

We have had alot of different brands through the years. John Deere, in our opinion, slipped in their 45-70hp tractors which we use on the vegetable farm.

My brother tried a Kubota 65hp and then got another on 90hp.

These tractors have out performed the John Deere we use to own. 2055 and 2755 series.

Now, let me say, that our old JD 3020 Hi-Crop was a horse. The Farmall 140 was a good tractor but the last IH we owned a B414, gave us the fits

I am a farmer. All we have is John Deere. Would never go with anything else. We are a sugarcane farm so we need dependable equipment. Unlike bean farms we have to harvest in muddy conditions so these tractors can take some abuse and still perform at a high level.
