Great play by Reid, but I was at a bar and didn't hear the argument against the Bama guy coming down with it? I thought he had possession and had a knee down before the ball was stripped away. I thought the same thing on all the angles I saw.

Just wondering what the rationale was for it (it was reviewed so what exactly was said?) to be an Int. and not a completed pass.

Ball was clearly coming out as he hit the ground. Rule says the receiver has to control it all the way down....

ETA - guy two posts down from here makes a great point too - call was 'confirmed' by replay.

The ball was moving when the receiver hit the ground.

the call was confirmed on replay (not just stands) so I feel good about it.

guess you were too drunk by this point. it was 100% coming out of his hands before his shoulder hit the ground.

he hit flat on his back. how in the hell would one say his knee was down first?

elbow maybe, but not close to having a knee down. try to fall flat on your back and put your knee down first. pretty hard to do.

you can see the ball being pulled out on the way down, the tip of the ball was coming out of the Bama guys hand and when he hit the ground Reid was able to get total possession....LSU ball!! I could see how it could go either way but I'm glad it went the way it did.

It was very clear and obvious that he did not have control of the ball, it was twisting out of his hands as he fell, Reid wanted the ball more, when they came up, Reid was in control of the ball, that is an int. it was a great def. play by a player that wanted the ball more than the receiver.. plain and simple, football 101

The fact that it was called an interception and upheld on replay in that stadium against that team with that officiating crew should be more than enough evidence for anyone who doubts that it was the correct call.

You obviously need to look at back side angle again. It clearly shows the receiver not having the football. It will go down in LSU history as one of the greatest interceptions of all-time.

Not only did he take it away from a tight end much bigger than him but he also wasn't even guarding that receiver. What a play!

Dr. Lou said it was a catch. That's all the explanation you need to verify it was an obvious INT.

the ball must be controlled through the end of the play. You must go to the ground and keep the ball.

I wasn't watching the knee. He did not have control of the ball......Interception......I really appreciate the Refs for not taking the game away from LSU......

Look at it like this. If Reid was not in the play and Williams catches the ball, he hits the ground and the ball is jarred loose. Incomplete pass right? Ball jarred loose right into Reid's chest. Williams didn't maintain possession the through catch, Reid did.

I feel like it was similar to the catch/INT in the Kentucky game earlier this yr... I feel like if the call on the field was a completion, then it doesn't get overturned. Just like the catch by Kentucky that was called a catch on the field.

the ball was moving before he hit the groud. so the ball is free to anyo e until the ball its self touches the ground. its the same rule on tds and catching out of bounds. the ball moved tberefore he didnt have possesion.
