You think UF feels threatened by Vandy and Kentucky? They get to play OM and MSU and never once has it mattered.
This makes no sense...at all!

That's the only way to have 14 teams, keep inter-divisional rivalries and play all the teams in the conference with a reasonable frequency.
If games against teams in the other division is that important, nothing would preclude them from being scheduled as out-of-conference games when it's not scheduled as as conference game.

I'll take UF. They are down right now. Get the licks in while you can
If this was 2008 I wouldn't want any part of it!

The game means more as an SEC game, so I think we'll stick with that.

so basically you are scared.
So Ole Miss gets to play Vandy every year, yet LSU has to play Florida every year.
Yeah. That's fair.

You know who also has to play Bama and UF every year?
Tennessee, and they whine about it only a fraction as much.
It's about being FAIR and doing what's right. Why should ole Miss have Vandy as a permanent opponent? It's the assumption that they will never have a great program. That's BS.
Level the playing field, and some programs need to stop whining about keeping their "rivals".

This post is so wrong on so many levels.
There is a national push by the "have nots" to derail the BCS system and that jealousy has reared it's ugly head in the form of pollsters pushing Boise St....their bracket buster!
Here we are the 8th week of the season and 2nd of the BCS poll and Boise is ranked 4th even though they haven't played anyone but a 5-2 Georgia team; most importantly, they won't play another ranked team the rest of this season. LSU or Bama will lose. Ok St. has a good chance of losing one to either the Sooners or Kansas State...and there's Boise.
The talking heads on the Mother-ship of College Football are pushing Boise more than a crack dealer in the projects...where there's a will there's a way!!
You seemed to have missed the fact that my post focused on the computer aspect of the BCS system, which is entirely based upon Strength of Schedule and wins/losses. The pollsters can make noise and rank Boise in the top 5 all they want to, but as long as Boise stays in the conference they're in, and plays the schedule that they do, they will either fall in the BCS polls or keep getting passed by undefeated teams in AQ conferences.

" Adding aTm to the schedule would simply make that our extra "tough" game that we are playing now against the Virginia Techs and Oregons of the world."

You want Vandy on the schedule MORE often?
GTFO.
SOMEBODY has to play Vandy, may as well be Ole Miss.
LSU is on the verge of winning it's 3rd NC in 8 years with this system, you think it's not "fair"?
Dude, shut up and think about it first.

I would rather have us play a 9 game SEC schedule over seeing several games a year against the WKUs, NWUs, Troys, ULLs, La Techs, etc. of the world. Also for keeping the Florida game, over the last decade it's been a great series.

So you hate that the one team to never win the West gets Vandy while we get Florida? How has that worked out? Are you freakin' serious?
The greatest 10 year period in the history of LSU Football has occurred while "having" to play Florida every year!

The fans that want to see the annual LSU - FLA game come to an end are in the VAST minority...believe that.

Playing Alabama and Florida year in year out and/or 7 other SEC schools sucks.
Yeah, it's really hurt our program.

Personally I like the Annual LSU Flordia Game, It really has been the best of any of the permanent rivalry games in the last 10 years.
IF (and that's a big IF) rivalries stay and LSU were to switch, the only other team I could see them switching to would be Kentucky, as LSU and Kentucky actually have a pretty historic rivalry in football (that sadly ended with the creation of divisions), and that is supposed to be the purpose of the permanent rivalry game. Plus Auburn already has Georgia, and Bama has Tenn, leaving really only Kentucky other than Florida as a decent option.

Let’s take a look at the six power programs in the SEC since 1981: Auburn and Alabama want to play the stronger teams from the East. Florida has been slightly better than UT and UGA over the last 30 years, but those are all tough games. If you want to be the best you need to beat the best.
