(a) We are saddled with Florida as a permanent eastern division opponent

AND/OR

(b) Have to move to a 9 game SEC schedule.

-Playing Alabama and Florida year in year out and/or 7 other SEC schools sucks.
-Florida has a money and recruiting advantage over us.
- Besides now that Texas A&M is in the SEC West, we have to play them every year. Give a good coach, the fertile south Texas recruiting base and membership of the premier conference/division in the land and they can be another Florida. Besides they have more money as well.

a. It's not about Fl or any other school, permanent x div games need to go for the sake of conference cohesion.

b. 9 games are needed and inevitable imo.

For the first 10 years of division play, Auburn played both Florida and Thuga...

Florida is a good team, but UT and UGA are also quality teams. Who do you want Vandy?

Why? It's a great series and always a high profile game nationally. I think we benefit from playing them more than we suffer from it.

That's the only way to have 14 teams, keep inter-divisional rivalries and play all the teams in the conference with a reasonable frequency.

Playing Alabama and Florida every year is part of what makes LSU football so exciting.

Florida has a money and recruiting advantage over us.

Maybe, but we are 6-4 against them over the last 10 years, so we're certainly holding our own.

So? We have to play Arkansas and Auburn every year, too. Why would Texas A&M be any different?

Maybe they will be. That's life in the SEC.

They are a better funded university overall than LSU is, but in athletics, football in particular, LSU is competitive with every school in the country in funding, facilities, etc.

I don't get why any LSU fan is afraid of playing Florida, Alabama and the rest of our SEC opponents when we have been doing it for over 40 years and it hasn't stopped us from becoming the superpower we currently are.

Easy there mike. They have a much better chance of being another Ole Miss. One cotton bowl every 10 years.

I agree that a 9 game SEC schedule would suck, which is a reason I have been against expansion since the beginning.

No they aren't.
Even using new math, 14 divided by 2 is 7.
The NCAA rules state that teams have to play all teams in their division...again, that would be 7.
If a team goes to the SECCG, that makes 8 SEC games.

No one in their right mind would advocate to play 9 SEC games; that's plain crazy.

Folks need to wake up! Boise St. plays teams no better than the Winn Dixie Intramural Association and those Aholes are ranked NUMBER 4 IN THE BCS!!!!! Yep, just increase the degree of difficulty to an already murderous schedule...that should tickle the shite out of every other BCS conference.

You know who also has to play Bama and UF every year?

Tennessee, and they whine about it only a fraction as much.

Simplest is to make Mizzou and TAMU permanent rivals. But it seems if LSU doest want to play FLA every year, you just set the below permanent matchups and that allows Mizzou to play all their border schools (UK, Van, Ten, and Ark). However, they will not have an annual game in TX for recruiting purposes, but their recruiting opens up GA, SC, and most importantly FL.

Hey Brother! Go check the Gator boards; they aren't too happy about having LSU as a permanent partner when other East teams are strapped with the grueling task of contending with Ole Miss or Miss St. as a permanent mate.

For the record, there is no rivalry between LSU and Florida...never has been and never will be one no matter how many games we play.

Boise has no chance because as they finish out their season their league opponents will wear down their SOS and they will drop in the computer polls. It happens to them every single year. Barring a catastrophe like everyone in the current top 15 losing a first or second game, Boise will not sniff an invite to the MNC game.

This post is so wrong on so many levels.

There is a national push by the "have nots" to derail the BCS system and that jealousy has reared it's ugly head in the form of pollsters pushing Boise St....their bracket buster!

Here we are the 8th week of the season and 2nd of the BCS poll and Boise is ranked 4th even though they haven't played anyone but a 5-2 Georgia team; most importantly, they won't play another ranked team the rest of this season. LSU or Bama will lose. Ok St. has a good chance of losing one to either the Sooners or Kansas State...and there's Boise.

The talking heads on the Mother-ship of College Football are pushing Boise more than a crack dealer in the projects...where there's a will there's a way!!

Shut up. I want to play UF every year. We've won two NC's doing this. It won't stop us from more than that.

i'm sorry man, but you have a bad attitude. the lsu/florida game is one of the best games in the nation most every year. i, for one, will be very disappointed if permanent cross divisional games are kept and they take florida away from us. one should not be afraid of worthy competition. winners must beat the best to be the best. look at it this way, friggin' florida should be afraid to play lsu, those pussies. you don't want to be a pussy do you?

You think UF feels threatened by Vandy and Kentucky? They get to play OM and MSU and never once has it mattered.

It doesn't matter to me if LSU and UF want to quit playing each other as long as we get to keep the AU and UT games. But I'm not going to promise I won't think you cowards for quitting.

I like us playing UF every year.

Florida is fertile recruiting ground and has helped LSU make inroads there.

It's a fun matchup and I hope it continues.

Most likely what will happen is Missou's permanent opponent will be Arkansas. LSU will then take USCe and aTm gets Florida.

But if that doesn't happen, all you would see is LSU stop scheduling difficult OOC opponents. Adding aTm to the schedule would simply make that our extra "tough" game that we are playing now against the Virginia Techs and Oregons of the world.
